We booked with Tyler of Pure Angling as a last minute thing. It started out as a windy day and we had an evening time slot to start. Tyler kept in contact with us all day long on wind and where the best place would be to start from due to the choppy water. We ended up fishing from the E Grand Traverse Bay boat launch and we had a great day. Winds calmed down later in the evening. We Reeled in a bunch of lake trout. And at the end trolled for Salmon. Tyler didn’t give up on us trying to snag a Salmon! It was almost dark and they still hadn’t bit but all of a sudden we got one and within minutes another! it was the end to a great day! One of them was a 40” and 26.3 lb-er. A beast!
Tyler was very personable. He knew what he was doing and had the whole boat set up with poles to ensure the most chances to snag the big one! We caught consistently throughout the day and can’t thank Tyler enough for the memories made! Not to mention a freezer full of delicious fish! We already told him we will be back next year for him to give our 14 yr old who was unable to join us a great experience as well!

Captain Tyler was a perfect choice for our family! We had never done a fishing charter before, and this was a Father’s Day/birthday gift for my husband. We hit our limit for lake trout in 2.5 hours, and my husband and kids had the time of their lives. Tyler was very communicative and even worked with us to change our time slot to avoid some rain on the day of our trip. He explained many of the aspects of what he was doing, which was really interesting and added to the experience. We are headed home with a massive amount of fish filets and some awesome memories.

Tyler was the best! Knowledgeable, friendly, organized, responsive, patient, a great teacher and just overall good guy that gave us a great fishing experience! He proactively reached out when it looked like it was going to be rough on the lake at our original time and offered optional time slots for us to choose from. He put us on fish almost immediately and kept it up throughout the evening - so much that we donated some back to him to give to his mom. Hope to fish with him when we go back next summer!

We had the BEST time fishing with Tyler. The weather for our original booking ended up being rainy, but Tyler was ahead of things two days in advanced and offered to switch to a better weather day. I was nervous taking our two young children (ages 2 years old and 6 months old), but they had a blast! Tyler was so helpful in explaining everything, finding the best fishing spots, and filleting our fish for the best fried trout dinner!! We highly recommend this experience!

Tyler exceeded our expectations!  He communicated very well before, during and even after our trip.  He was very informative and clearly takes pride in what he does.  He worked very hard throughout the trip setting lines, helping get fish in the boat, cleaning the fish and cleaning the boat and his tools at the conclusion of the trip.  We caught several very nice fish, and overall it was a great time for my son and I!
