Local Slayer is owned by Capt. Smith, a 2nd generation professional angler. Together with his dad, he started fishing out of Cedar Key when he was a kid, so you could say fishing was in his DNA. They have both made great careers fishing professionally out of Cedar Key for over 20 years.

    Ask for Steve - born and raised - knows his stuff

    Half Day Trip (AM) • 4 adults

    Steve is friendly, authentic and easy to fish with. He worked really hard to keep our lines baited and rods working perfectly. We caught lots of fish but the slot size kept winning -- too big or too small but it was fun. We had a great experience with dolphins playing with us. a storm was brewing and he knew we needed to head in as there was electricity building. we went in for about 45 minutes. When the storm passed, we headed out and he did not shorten our trip. we caught Red Tail or Red Fin, sea trout, catfish, lady fish, flounder, a sting ray, and a 4' shark that jumped completely out of the

    Steven was a fantastic guide! He was experienced, knowledgeable, and very personable. We caught six keeper trout and several other fish that we released. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend him!

    Great day on the water!

    We caught 3 species of sharks, toadfish, catfish, pinfish and trout; sadly we didn’t bring any home because we declined to keep the sharks and the rest were too small. Steve was very attentive and had a great sense of humor.
