Background
We have two full time in-house captains/owners with five other part-time/contract captains. Capt. Ethan Williams is a licensed and registered USCG Maritime Captain. His love for fishing started at a very young age. Having lived all over the United States, Ethan has been able to learn many tricks of the trade in both saltwater and freshwater. While attending Clemson University, Ethan worked in SW Florida as a mate on some of the best fishing boats in the world. There he was featured on several different television shows, magazines articles and radio shows. After his graduation, Ethan brought his skill set to the Lowcountry and became a captain, so he may share his love and knowledge for fishing with others. Ethan likes to spend his free time on the water continuously learning more about new areas and the fish that inhabit them. When he is not out exploring the waterways, Ethan will be with his family and friends enjoying all the many activities Charleston has to offer or traveling to new, global destinations. Ethan’s passion for the outdoors is easily noticed as soon as you step on board with him. He will be sure you have an amazing experience. Capt. Brandon Hartman is a licensed and registered USCG Maritime Captain, born with fishing in his blood. With a background in professional bass fishing, Bandon traveled the country for over 8 years fishing the FLW tour along with many other professional tours. After winning on multiple levels, he decided to settle down to his roots in the Carolinas and grow a second profession in fishing as a saltwater charter captain, giving Brandon over 25 years of fishing experience in saltwater and fresh. Just as he did on the FLW tour, Brandon spends his free time chasing new waters and countless fish including inshore, nearshore, and blue water pelagic species. When Brandon is not on the water he spends his time with his beautiful wife, Taylor, his son, Jennings, and their many animals. Brandon has an enormous passion for the fishing industry, and, with his outgoing personality, makes for a great experience on the water.
Techniques
At Charleston Charter Company, we pride ourselves in being able to offer many different techniques in order to cater not only to how and where the fish are biting, but to how our clients prefer to fish as well. Our extensive knowledge allows all our clients to have the best opportunity to catch fish regardless of the season and weather. Fishing in the Charleston area is always changing. We make it a point to stay on top of these changes and to keep catching! We primarily focus on the inshore waters with light tackle and live bait. However, when the ocean is calm, we will venture out to our many nearshore wrecks, reefs, live bottom, etc. and drop down live bait or jigs for bigger fish as well.

Spring is Officially here and the Fishin
Spring is Officially here and the Fishin
Mar 14, 2024 Mount Pleasant
The Spring weather has set in and water temperatures are on the rise making the fishing outstanding. Todays water temperature was hovering right around 61 degrees. We have been finding the redfish still schooled up on the flats and around shallow structure all throughout the Charleston Harbor and surrounding rivers. They have started to break into their smaller Spring time schools, but are still easy to find since the water has been clear. Bait has started to flood into the creeks. You can find mullet, blue crab, glass minnows and other common baits seen on the flats relatively easily and the schooling reds are not far behind. Shrimp, cut mullet, and mud minnows under corks on a 2/0 circle hook have been the go to baits. If artificial is your game, be looking for the more natural colors such as the Zman minnowz or jerk shad in houdini or pinfish colors. Redfish toad has been working well in the more discolored water. Trout have started to show up as well. Be looking for them along steeper banks with structure. 7-12 feet has been the magic number for us. A slip cork is best with shrimp or mud minnows. Using these slip corks will allow you to adjust to the depth you need once you find where the trout are eating. In the artificial category, vudu shrimp under popping corks and Zman minnowz on a 1/4 oz Trout Eye have been working great. If you are able to venture out to the reefs, the sheephead bite has been on fire. They have been eating live shrimp and fiddlers dropped down to the bottom. Get a trip on the books with us ASAP if you want to get out in the creeks and on some fish!! We are booking up quick!

Spring Time Patterns are Starting to Sho
Mar 4, 2024 Mount Pleasant
March 5, 2024 Report Warmer days are finally here and the fishing continues to get better. The water temperature is hovering right around 56 degrees and the fish are loving it. We are primarily focused on schools of Redfish in the shallow water flats. You can locate them much easier this time of the year as they will typically be in schools of 25 or more and the clear water makes spotting them very easy. Mixed in with these schools of redfish you can find black drum. They put on a great fight and are delicious fried. Both these fish are chomping on live shrimp under slip corks. You can find these shrimp in the deep hole areas of the Charleston Harbor or the local tackle shop. If live bait is not your thing, we are catching plenty of fish on artificials as well. Our go to is a zman jerk shad or paddle tail in the Dark Nโ€™ Stormy or Fried Chicken colors. Trout are starting to show up in their normal spring time patterns. You can find them around shell banks and other structure in 5-9 feet. Target them with live shrimp and popping corks. They will also hit the same type of artificials as the redfish on the flats, however; you will want to move them more sporadically to engage the reaction bite from the trout. The weather will only continue to get warmer and the fish will fully transition into their spring time patterns. Give us a call to get on the water! We will teach you and your group the techniques we use in order to be successfull!
