Fishing trip in May

Lake Michigan's fishing season doesn't kick off until spring, but that doesn't mean fishing's off the table. If Algoma's local lakes are covered in snow, gather your friends and family and head out for an ice fishing trip!&nbsp;

If Lake Michigan's waters are no longer frozen, the season can even begin as early as February. Wrap up warm and get ready to hook into some Brown Trout!&nbsp;

Spring has sprung! Algoma's beautiful and productive waters offer some fantastic Brown Trout action right now, especially if you head to Lake Michigan.&nbsp;

Enjoy a mid-spring fishing trip on mighty Lake Michigan. Round up your family and friends and head out with one of the area's many local guides. Right now is a great time to reel in some Brownies!

The season is well and truly heating up, and anglers head to the lake's waters for Salmon fishing. If you don't feel like waiting until the last days of May, head out a bit earlier to target some Lake Trout!

June is the perfect time to get your hands on those beloved 'Silver Bullets' – Steelhead! They can range from 3 to 15 pounds. You can also test your angling skills against Salmon, which are biting throughout June.

It's mid-summer and the waters of Lake Michigan hold some fantastic species. Salmon fishing is in full swing – it can't get any better than that! You can get your limits and then target whatever else is lurking in the lake.

You can expect to find the biggest sizes of Salmon on Lake Michigan. Of course, there are other species you can get your hands on right now, but huge Salmon are arguably the most exciting ones.

Visit in September and you'll experience Algoma's Salmon season at its peak. You'll find these fish hanging out around river mouths, ready to run upstream to spawn. Some Salmon can be up to 25 pounds!

October is a great time to check out the bite close to shore, targeting Trout or Salmon. You can also explore the waters of the Ahnapee River, one of Lake Michigan's tributaries. It's up to you!

November usually heralds the end of Algoma's fishing season, especially on Lake Michigan. You can still targeting some remaining fish on the lake if the waters aren't frozen!

Winter has arrived, and offers some nice ice fishing opportunities on Algoma's inland lakes. If you find a local guide who knows the best spots, you can get your hands on some exciting species.
