- Background
- I have been fishing my entire life. I caught the fishing bug at a very early age, fishing for freshwater species in upstate South Carolina. When I was able to afford my own boat, I started fishing Bass tournaments and eventually competed in some lower level professional tournaments. I was a high school teacher and football coach for 30 years. About 20 years ago, I got the head football coaching position at a local high school and fell in love with inshore saltwater fishing. I started to guide, at first, just in the summers when school was out, then retired from education and became a full-time fishing captain.
- Techniques
- I can accommodate anyone, regardless of their fishing skills or experience. I love for people to ask questions about the whys and hows of fishing. Most of our fishing will be done in the estuaries, rivers, and bays that make up the areas salt marsh. We will be casting live bait like shrimp, finger mullet, menhaden, or mud minnows and letting them either sit on the bottom or drift under a popping cork. At other times we may use cut mullet or cut crab. Don't worry if your casting skills are not fine tuned, I can help with that. There could be times of the year that we cast some artificial lures as well.
