Our practice is to have our deck hand meet our customers in the parking lot and escort them to our boat.  As the group and our deck hand were walking down the dock I received several phone calls from other Captains warning me that this group had fished with them in the past and did nothing but complain from the moment they boarded till the last fish was filleted at the end of the trip.  This review was expected, even as my deck hands went above and beyond to cater to ever request from this group.  First of all they did not pay for a snapper trip. They paid for near shore fishing trip which is much cheaper than going far out. You start catching snapper at roughly 50 miles out now. And that is not what they paid for plus the day they went out fishing was not snapper season just yet so you could not keep the snapper. So that is why we did not go after snapper and we explain that very carefully to them.

First of all he talked about a mechanical breakdown not aware of any mechanical breakdowns. The seas that day were roughly 6 Plus feet we could not run the boat wide open or we would tear up the boat. The engines are 3208 caterpillars they’re rebuilt and have about 120 hours on them. He became very upset and angry because he could not keep all of the red snapper that we were catching there are size limits and bag limits and he did not seem to understand that. This is the reason why we take a few pictures of the fish that the customers are catching to prove that there are fish being caught because too many times people will not tell the truth I hate to have to say that but the truth . I’m sorry that I cannot change the law on the bag limit of the amount in size of fish that they can keep. He told the captain I’m paying for this trip I should be able to keep all the fish that I catch. The captain told him that there is a bag limit and a size limit but he seemed not to understand that he said he wanted to take home at least 800 lb of red snapper. I’m so sorry this did not work out for him but we do not make the law. We just follow the law.

We do apologize that you did not have the experience that you wish for. The weather of that day never got out of the low 40s which is not good for Bay fishing. 4 of them never got out of the cabin and stayed in the warmth of the cabin the whole day not wanting to get out in the rain which yes it did rain the whole day. Yes that morning we did give them the option to cancel the trip due to the rain in the cold weather. But they said they wished to go out anyway because they came from another state down to Galveston for a holiday which was the Thanksgiving holiday. The winds that day with between 30 and 40 mph winds which is extremely high but they did wish to go out on the water and we did as they asked. And for that we do apologize. But we did do as we were asked. Thank you
