Background: "From blue gills to Blue Marlin, from mud puddles to oceans", Captain Jim Butler is an accomplished angler and guide with a passion for the sport and has been an avid angler and marine enthusiast since a young age. He carries with him a vast knowledge of fresh and saltwater angling, species, guiding, angling techniques and applications as well as vessel operation in both offshore and inland waters. Captain Jim holds an always current United States Coast Guard Master Captain License and is a member of the local USCG Auxiliary. He has been a guide in total for over 30 years and enjoys sharing his knowledge and techniques.
Techniques: Drift fishing is the preferred method of bait delivery for our charters. We are outfitted with an I-Pilot trolling motor and drift bags that assist with keeping the boat at a perfect drift speed.

It was a "Blue" Monday!

Memories to last a lifetime...and Bragging rights earned for our guests from Virginia came down because they have always wanted to fish Lake Marion. Well, our famous Blue Cats did not disappoint! The cooler was full of 20 pounders when this hog showed up. She battled him on her own for over 15 minutes! What a day and all in less than 4 hours! It doesnt happen this way all the time but when it does, everyone goes back to camp tired.?

We had such a great time out on the water with this charter! The captain was awesome—super knowledgeable, easygoing, and made sure we were catching fish and having fun the whole time. Whether it was helping bait the lines, showing us how to reel ’em in, or just swapping stories, he really made the experience feel relaxed and memorable. My husband, daughter and I went out with Captain Jim and if I could give more than 5 stars for this experience I would! Captain Jim is very accommodating, knowledgeable and patient. He made us feel comfortable as soon as we stepped on the boat and was very engaging and friendly. He even arranged for someone to clean our catch. If you’re looking for a great charter experience we highly recommend Captain Jim!

Capt. Jim made the trip great. We caught a monster catfish - 24 lbs. The boat was clean, comfortable, and really set up for fishing. The lake is beautiful and worth the trip. Jim really knows about the history and function of Lake Marion, being a reservoir and hydro-electric source of power. Big thanks and endorsement!

GOOD DAY ON THE WATER. I’VE HAD BETTER FISHING DAYS BUT WE TRIED SEVERAL DIFFERENT AREAS AND DEPTHS. HAD A WIDE SELECTION OF BAITS. CAUGHT ENOUGH CATFISH FOR SEVERAL MEALS. CAPTAIN WAS VERY HELPFUL AND PROVIDED LOTS OF INFORMATION ON THE AREA. WILL CALL AGAIN WHEN I WANT TO FISH THE LAKE AGAIN.

Let’s get straight to the point. Worth every penny, Jim knows exactly what he’s doing and how he’s going to do it. That’s making fishing easy for you. Although he can’t promise fish in the boat, he does everything to make it happen. With his knowledge of 30+ years on the lake and a life time experience of fishing. He’s your best bet. Caught my personal best catfish of 38lbs! Hopefully this review helps good luck fishing!
