Get out as early as possible. The reef is close by so smaller operations can easily access. It can get a bit crowded.

Definitely a trip worthy of experiencing! We got off our cruise ship late so that alone may have affected our ability to catch more fish. It had nothing to do with our guide. We caught more than enough Tuna to enjoy our catch and cook at a local restaurant. It was a fun experience.

Roatan Reef Explorer Tours
100% would recommend them. We are normally scuba divers when we go on trips but they showed us such a good time we plan on incorporating a day for fishing for now on.

If you have your heart set on catching a specific species do your research. Bonefish are difficult to catch. We didn’t know how to fly fish before this trip and it is not as easy as it looks in movies but can be learned.

I'd say this may be a bit of a borderline time for fishing. It seemed like several boats were all reporting disappointing catches for the day. However, we still caught 5 fish, just not larger ones

The real big fish are seasonal. Our Captain knew what was in season and put us on the fish. If you are after a specific species make sure you are there the right time of the year for that fish.

Bring sunscreen. It gets hot out there. Bring a snack if you think you may need it. You pay for 4 hours of fishing and you get 4 hours of fishing. The brother Cappy picks you up and shuttles you to the boat. Brother Takes you fishing and helps you be successful, and Cappy makes sure you get back to your destination on time and with great conversation. Makes you want to return soon and spend more time.

We went trolling up and down the coast line all the way east. We will recommend to take sunglasses and sunscreen and they have everything else you need on board.
