Dress in layers and be prepared for cool, windy weather even in the summer. If you’re prone to seasickness, take something beforehand because the ocean can get a little rough. Most importantly, book with an experienced local captain who knows the area. The fishing was fantastic in August, and we caught a great variety of fish. It was an awesome experience for our whole family, including our kids!

Fish Reapers Sportfishing
Afternoon winds pick up so it was pretty choppy around Berkeley but the captain found us a calmer spot in the bay. Even as someone prone to seasickness I had no issues.

Would probably try to pick a cooler day and/or prioritize early AM or late. Salmon season supposedly picks up in August and into early fall.

sebastien was a very good captain really at the top of his game gave us a great fishkng experience put us onto two big tuna and a yellowtail along with a few other bites on the half day trip.

Fish Taxi Sportfishing
The bite was a little finicky but we found a massive school in 400' of water and worked it until it cleared out to get our fish. Once the bite cooled off around 7:45 Chris gave us the option to keep fishing or call it a day which was great, we'd caught the fish we were after and were ready to head to the house. Overall we probably caught 10 fish in 2.5 hours but bringing them up from 400' was a real experience...I'd definitely book again.

Keep an open mind, let the guide do their job and trust their expertise. Maybe take some extra live bait, it goes quick when the action is high. Also have a plan if you’re keeping your catch, we ended up with a lot more than we expected.
