Fresh Lake Tahoe Fishing Reports

Weather is always a crap shoot. One day is sunny, the next is windy and a winter snow alert.

Be prepared for winter storms and the water that goes with them. Stay warm and dry.

This was the first time that I ever fished on Lake Tahoe. I am from Iowa, so I don’t do much fishing at all. I really had an unbelievably great time and enjoyed catching my limit in 3 hours. What a beautiful lake. I give this a 10!!!!

Check the season carefully before you book so you know what's hitting. If you are too early or too late for Kokanee salmon, for example, you may be disappointed in your catch. Also, I highly suggest you book your charter direct rather than through FishingBooker. They add little value, their incessant text messages are excessive, and they won't prep you for the day the way the skipper will.

Yes, the spot Captain Brad took us to was about a 15 minute boat ride from Carnelian Bay. We fished in 150 feet depth and caught many Macinaw Trout. We kept three and released the others.

Early start good during summer as it gets hot- but great way to experience fishing with a professional.

I feel like April is early this year for tahoe. Warmer days bring more consistent fishing. But getting out on a boat with an experienced captain definitely pays off

I recommend calling Captain Mike Nielsen. Was recommended to me by the guy at the shop where we bought our licenses. He did not disappoint. Caught our limit, saw incredible views and learned a good bit about the area. Gorgeous day and amazing experience!

Don’t reel to quickly the fish have soft mouths and the hooks pop out right at the boat

Be courteous to your captain and the other boaters at the boat dock by being on time and ready to get out on the water. It is a busy boat launch first thing in the morning.

The morning bite for Lake Trout is better than the afternoon bite, but no matter when you go out, if you go with Captain Rob, it’s going to be an amazing experience.

Go early parking is limited and purchase your fishing lic at Ace Hardware in Truckee.

Your arms will get tired reeling in all the fish lol. JK it’s a blast definitely a must do when in Tahoe.

Little chilly, but nice October day in Tahoe. Can't beat the sunrise and mountain views and the clean gorgeous water.

Great time! Landed 4 in the boat really early in the morning and had 3-4 other chances that the fish got lucky on.
