We got lucky and booked during a short window when the Bonita are moving through, April 22. Four miles offshore, and they are fun to catch for their size and delicious!

Donโt go fishing in the ocean with expectations of catching a trophyโฆbut you never know! Try everything your guide suggests (they know what theyโre doing and WHEN to do it), and enjoy the ride. Maybe donโt watch Jaws the night before like we did.

Be patient. That's key when you're fishing. Also try to understand that some days they bite and some days they don't and that's a part of the game. However we caught a lot of fish when we went and I hope you do too ?

Salty Fishing Charters has a great boat to fish from. Like all fishing, itโs best to go early in the morning. Put on some suntan lotion before you go. A hat and sunglasses are a must. Bring a soft sided small cooler with drinks and a small snack.

July is pretty hot here and pop up storms are the norm, so weather might alter your plans, especially if youโre going out on a charter. The fish are there, but just know that all kinds of factors (weather, tides, bait availability, etc.) are going to determine where, when, and how long youโre at a particular spot and what youโre trying to catch.
