Surface water temps 74 degrees, water clarity good in most places for East Bay, thanks to the recent wind direction. Winds have been South/Southeast at 10 to 20 mph, for the most part with higher gusts, over the past week. Early mornings started off with low incoming tides, and we found trout, black drum and reds, and a few flounder over shell bottoms, where we could find decent baitfish activity, and the bite was better when we had good current movement. Our best fish this week came off tails with 1/8 oz heads fished under a popping cork, with a 24 to 28โ€ leader. Most bites were after popping the cork and the bites were aggressive and the fish were active. We also caught good numbers on tails either bouncing off the shell bottoms or cranking faster in the upper portion of the water column. We threw topwaters as well, but we were achieving more bites on our other tactics. We also utilized the same tactics on our late afternoon trips, and the outgoing tides, the fish were just positioned a little differently over the shell and further offshore. Colors that performed the best were Blue Moon, Purple Reign, and White Ice, and the standard size obtained more bites the last few days. With water temperatures on the rise, and the days getting longer, fishing will continue to get better, so grab a friend or a loved one and get out and enjoy the great outdoors. If you are looking to get out on the water and beat the crowds, now is the perfect time to make it happen, and as always, we will design a trip around your expectations, and guarantee you will have a great time fishing Galveston Bay.

Fishing has been extremely good over the past week, and the redfish bite was stellar and then on early Friday morning we had a front move through bringing with it strong winds and rain, which muddied up East Bay and made for tougher than normal conditions for our trips on Saturday. Winds were Northeast at 14 to 27mph, with Blue Bird Skies and an incoming morning tide. We fished artificial and live bait trips this week, with the bite becoming more consistent on our evening trip with the weather beginning to stabilize. We fished back in the marsh to find better looking water and found several good, speckled trout, flounder, redfish, and black drum. We had our best trips in the late afternoon, when we had lots of water and an outgoing tide, with winds switching to the East/Southeast at 12-19mph. We fished ยผ oz jig heads and the purple reign color seemed to trigger some great action for us with either a slow retrieve or bouncing off the bottom. For our live bait fishers, we utilized shrimp under a popping cork, and a 24โ€ leader worked best. The Topwater Bite has been decent, but not on fire like last week. Most of our catching this week was on Flats in and close to drains, as well as flooded grass on the higher tides for redfish prowling for an easy meal. If you are looking to get out on the water and beat the crowds, now is the perfect time to make it happen, and as always, we will design a trip around your expectations, and guarantee you will have a great time fishing Galveston Bay.

Surface water temperatures are now in the low 70โ€™s, and water clarity is getting better by the day. We had a few days with North Winds, but for the most part we had winds from the East to Southeast most of the time, with gusts up to 20mph. We fished artificial and live bait trips this week, and depending upon the day and time, the bite was anywhere from finicky to jerk the rod out of your hand, so it made for some great times on East Galveston Bay. This week, we had our best trips in the late afternoon, when we had lots of water and a strong incoming tide. We had a couple of days where every spot we fished produced for us and resulted in some awesome catching for some great fishers. We fished ยผ oz jig heads and the Blue Moon color seemed to trigger some great action for us, as well as live shrimp under a popping cork. The Topwater Bite has been on fire for us the past few days, resulting in our bigger fish and some great action that helped make some great memories for our clients. Most of our catching this week was on Flats and in and around shell on the wind protected shorelines. We photographed and released all of our solid trout over 20โ€, as we desperately need to get our population of larger trout replenished as it was 10 years or so ago. If you are looking to get out on the water and beat the crowds, now is the perfect time to make it happen, and as always, we will design a trip around your expectations, and guarantee you will have a great time fishing Galveston Bay.
