Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report – August 9, 2026 – Dorado Released
1 Dorado Caught and Released
Charter Date: August 9, 2026
Charter Length: 8 Hours
Boat: 35' Riviera Blue Water
Captain: Oscar
Catch: 1 Dorado Caught and Released
August 9 gave Shane and his family a full eight-hour day aboard the 35-foot Riviera Blue Water with Captain Oscar. The charter produced a smaller dorado that provided the family with their game-fish encounter before being safely released back into the Pacific.
Warm summer water around Cabo San Lucas created the setting for a day focused on searching offshore and making the most of the available opportunities.
Eight Hours of Fishing the Waters Around Cabo
An eight-hour charter gives the captain considerably more flexibility than a short outing. Instead of being restricted to water close to the marina, the crew has additional time to search different areas, react to changing conditions and continue looking for signs of productive activity.
Captain Oscar worked the offshore water with Shane, Kelley, Chase and Colton aboard Blue Water.
Dorado are an exciting species for families because the action can happen quickly. Their bright colors, speed and energetic fights make even a smaller fish memorable once it reaches the boat.
For this family, the dorado became the highlight of the trip.

A Family Dorado Encounter While Fishing Cabo
Bringing a dorado alongside provides a close look at one of Cabo's most recognizable offshore species. Their vivid coloration can be particularly impressive immediately after the fight.
Because this fish was smaller, the decision was made to release it.
The dorado returned to the water rather than being retained, giving the fish an opportunity to continue growing.
That decision also became part of the family's experience. A successful charter does not always need to be measured by fish brought back to the dock. Seeing the fish, experiencing the fight and watching it swim away can be equally memorable.
August fishing can involve changing water, bait and offshore activity, which means every charter develops differently. Longer trips provide additional time to search when fish are scattered or productive areas require more exploration.
For Shane and his family, August 9 ultimately became a simple but memorable Cabo fishing story: a full day on the Pacific, one colorful dorado alongside the boat and one healthy fish released back into the ocean.
