July 25 delivered two very different offshore encounters for Kyle, Shalaina, Carmel, Alex, Andy and Brittanie aboard the 35-foot Riviera Blue Water with Captain Oscar.
The six-hour private charter produced one huge tuna along with a sailfish that was successfully caught and released. With warm blue water, calm weather and light winds, the group had favorable conditions for a morning targeting offshore game fish.
Searching Productive Water While Fishing Around Cabo
The charter began at 8:00 AM with Captain Oscar and the Blue Water crew searching productive offshore water.
Tuna and sailfish require different approaches once encountered, making a two-species day particularly interesting for anglers.
Tuna are powerful pelagic fish capable of sustained runs and demanding battles beneath the surface. Sailfish bring another dimension to the experience, combining speed with the possibility of spectacular surface action.
The group experienced both during the same six-hour charter.

Huge Tuna Brings Power to the Cabo Fishing Day
The tuna provided the heavy-duty battle of the charter.
Tuna combine tremendous stamina with the ability to use their strength beneath the boat. A large fish can force an angler to maintain pressure throughout the fight while the captain and crew carefully manage boat position and equipment.
The group's persistence paid off when the huge tuna was successfully landed.
It was a substantial offshore catch and one of two very different highlights from the morning.
Sailfish Adds a Successful Release
The sailfish brought an entirely different style of game-fish action.
Known for speed, agility and their distinctive dorsal sail, these fish can create dramatic offshore encounters when they enter a trolling presentation.
After the hookup and fight, the sailfish was successfully brought alongside and released back into the Pacific.
That release complemented the tuna catch and gave the six anglers two contrasting offshore experiences during a single charter.
Two Species in Six Hours on Blue Water
July 25 ultimately produced quality rather than simply quantity.
One huge tuna delivered the power and endurance associated with offshore tuna fishing. The sailfish provided speed, excitement and a successful release.
For Kyle, Shalaina, Carmel, Alex, Andy and Brittanie, those two encounters became the defining moments of six hours aboard Blue Water with Captain Oscar.
Warm 78–80°F water, calm weather and light winds completed a productive summer morning offshore.
