Cabo Fishing Report – 1 Marlin Released Blue Sky Cabo Fishing Charter and Tours 32 Foot Luhrs – Cabo Fishing Report December 13, 2023 Glen and Dan traveled from the Edmonton, Alberta area and boarded the 32' Blue Star Luhrs for a six-hour morning charter from Cabo San Lucas. Their trip produced the encounter many visiting anglers come to Cabo hoping to experience: one marlin caught and successfully released. With only two guests aboard, this was a focused fishing day. The charter departed at 6:00 AM, providing an early start and six hours for the Blue Star crew to search offshore water, work the trolling presentation and capitalize when a billfish opportunity finally developed. Cabo Morning Charter and Fishing Conditions Date: December 13, 2023 | Boat: 32' Blue Star Luhrs | Captain: Blue Star Crew Guests: 2 | Guest Home Area: Edmonton, Alberta | Charter Length: 6 Hours Departure: 6:00 AM | Return: 12:00 PM | Catch: 1 Marlin Marlin Released: 1 | Dredge: Included | Technique: Offshore Trolling Departure Dock: F Dock | Marina: IGY Marina | Location: Cabo San Lucas Air Temperature: ~68°F → 82°F | Water Temperature: ~73°F | Wind: Light to Moderate Swell: ~2–4 ft | Moon: New Moon | Moon Illumination: ~1% Dredge Presentation Shapes This Cabo Report This charter was built around creating one strong offshore opportunity. Blue Star carried a dredge presentation, adding another element to the trolling spread as the crew searched for marlin. A dredge is designed to create the appearance of concentrated bait moving behind the boat. Instead of relying on a single lure or bait to attract attention, the presentation adds movement and visual activity beneath the surface. For Glen and Dan, patience eventually paid off. A marlin entered the picture and transformed a morning of searching into a full billfish encounter. One Strike Defines the Fishing Report Marlin fishing doesn't always require multiple bites to create a memorable day. One committed fish can do it. Once the marlin became involved with the presentation, the crew moved from searching to managing the encounter. The angler concentrated on maintaining pressure while the captain controlled Blue Star's position and the deck crew managed the remaining tackle. Every successful marlin fight involves coordination. The fish determines the direction. The captain responds with the boat. The angler works through the runs, changes in pressure and moments when the fish comes closer. Eventually, the marlin was brought under control alongside Blue Star. It was then successfully released back into the Pacific. Two Edmonton Anglers Experience Cabo Fishing With Glen and Dan as the only two guests aboard, the 32' Luhrs offered a very different dynamic from a charter carrying a larger group. There was no need for a complicated angler rotation. Both guests could remain directly involved with the search, watch the trolling spread and follow the crew's movements as conditions developed. When the marlin arrived, the entire charter immediately centered on that fish. The morning's result was simple: 1 marlin caught 1 marlin released 100% of the billfish catch returned to the Pacific The numbers were modest, but the quality of the encounter was significant. Six Hours Provides More Cabo Charter Report Time The six-hour format sits between Blue Sky Cabo's shorter introductory trips and its longer offshore days. Those additional minutes matter when the boat must travel, locate productive water, deploy the trolling presentation and wait for the right fish to respond. Blue Star left at 6:00 AM and had until noon. That gave the crew enough time to work through the morning rather than having the charter defined by the first hour or two of activity. The payoff was the marlin encounter. Once the fish had been successfully released, the result of the trip was established regardless of whether another fish entered the spread. Successful Release Completes the Fishing Report By noon, Glen and Dan were returning toward Cabo San Lucas Marina with a straightforward fishing story to take back to Alberta. Two anglers had left F Dock before much of Cabo's morning activity had begun. They spent six hours aboard the 32' Blue Star Luhrs, fished a dredge-assisted offshore trolling presentation and encountered one of the species most closely associated with Cabo San Lucas. Most importantly, the fish swam away. For this December charter, success wasn't measured by the number of fish brought to the dock. It was one quality encounter followed by the outcome Blue Sky Cabo seeks with marlin: a successful release. Two guests from the Edmonton area. Six hours aboard the 32' Blue Star Luhrs. One marlin caught and successfully released. Cabo Fishing Report – 80-Pound Yellowfin Tuna and Dorado August 29, 2026 1 Yellowfin Tuna and 1 Dorado During a Six-Hour Cabo Fishing Charter A family from White Plains, New York enjoyed a productive late-August fishing trip aboard the 32-foot Luhrs Blue Star with Captain Chewy. Edit, Julio, Isabella and Kennedy spent six hours fishing the warm waters around Cabo San Lucas and finished the charter with two quality pelagic fish. The standout catch was an approximately 80-pound yellowfin tuna. A 20-pound dorado added a second species and brought the estimated combined weight of the two fish to approximately 100 pounds. At approximately 80 pounds, this was a substantial tuna requiring much more than a quick fight. Yellowfin are powerful swimmers built for sustained speed and endurance. Larger fish can make hard initial runs before settling into the deeper stages of the battle. Captain Chewy and the crew helped the anglers maintain pressure while keeping the boat positioned during the fight. Successfully bringing the tuna aboard turned one offshore opportunity into the biggest catch of the family's morning. August 29 Catch Results Species Approx. Weight Result Yellowfin Tuna 80 lbs Caught Dorado 20 lbs Caught Combined Catch 100 lbs 2 Game Fish The numbers show why the tuna became the centerpiece of the trip, but the dorado provided valuable species variety during a relatively compact six-hour fishing window. Dorado Adds Color and Speed to the Cabo Fishing Day The approximately 20-pound dorado created a very different offshore experience. Dorado are known for rapid acceleration, aggressive strikes and brilliant coloration. Once hooked, they can produce quick runs and aerial action that contrast sharply with the sustained strength of a large yellowfin tuna. Catching both species allowed the family to experience two distinct styles of Cabo fishing during the same morning. Warm August Conditions Around Cabo Water temperature was approximately 88°F, with air temperature beginning around 84°F and climbing into the upper 80s. Winds were approximately 9–12 mph under a mixture of clouds and sunshine. Captain Chewy could continually watch the surrounding water for signs that might reveal productive areas, including: Concentrations of baitfish Working birds Current seams Surface disturbances Floating structure or debris These observations are particularly valuable during a six-hour charter because making productive use of the available fishing time matters. The 80-pound yellowfin delivered the strength and endurance associated with larger tuna, while the 20-pound dorado brought speed, color and a completely different fight. Approximately 100 pounds of combined fish during a six-hour charter made this a productive family outing aboard Blue Star and another example of the species variety available during late-summer fishing in Cabo San Lucas.

Cabo Fishing Report – Marlin and Dorado Action in Cabo San Lucas August 15, 2026 Charter Length: 8 Hours | Boat: Blue Star – 32' Luhrs 3 Marlin Released and 1 Small Dorado Released Three experienced anglers from Dallas, Texas enjoyed an active eight-hour offshore fishing charter aboard Blue Star with Captain Chewy. Chris, Logan and Dakota finished the day with four game fish encounters: three marlin and one small dorado, with all four fish successfully released. The trip demonstrated the quality of Cabo's warm-water billfish action during August. With approximately 89.6°F water offshore, Captain Chewy continually worked changing conditions rather than depending on one location or one opportunity. This charter produced three separate marlin encounters. Each fish gave the anglers another opportunity to experience the combination of strength, speed and surface action that makes marlin such an important part of Cabo sportfishing. Captain Chewy continually evaluated the offshore environment while searching for productive water. Current direction, bait movement, water color and bird activity can all provide clues about where predators may be feeding. The strategy ultimately produced three marlin, and all three were successfully released. August 15 Fishing Results Species Number Charter Result Marlin 3 All Released Dorado 1 Released Total Game Fish 4 100% Released The small dorado added a second species to the day's action. Because of its size, it was also released, allowing the fish to continue growing in Cabo's offshore ecosystem. Dorado Adds Another Species to the Charter Dorado offer a very different fight from marlin. They are known for rapid acceleration, aggressive strikes, brilliant coloration and unpredictable movements near the surface. Finding one during a day already producing multiple marlin gave the anglers another example of the variety available in Cabo's warm August water. The decision to release the small dorado meant every game fish encountered during the charter returned to the water. Extremely Warm August Water Water temperature was approximately 89.6°F. Air temperatures were in the mid-to-upper 80s during the morning before becoming hotter later in the day. Conditions were hot and humid with periods of sunshine and tropical cloud cover. During an eight-hour charter, the crew has time to search for changing offshore indicators, including: Bait concentrations Working birds Current boundaries Water-color changes Surface activity Having additional fishing time can become particularly useful when marlin are scattered or when the crew needs to reposition as conditions develop. Three marlin provided three separate billfish battles, while the small dorado added another warm-water species to the experience. Most importantly, every fish was successfully released. With four game fish, two species and eight hours aboard the 32-foot Blue Star, the final result was a memorable late-summer fishing day in Cabo San Lucas: three marlin released and one dorado released.

Cabo Fishing Report – August 7, 2026 – Tuna and Dorado 1 Large Tuna and 1 Dorado Caught Charter Date: August 7, 2026 Charter Length: 6 Hours Boat: 32' Luhrs Blue Star Captain: Chewy Catch: 1 Large Tuna and 1 Dorado August 7 produced a quality two-species fishing day for Payam, Daniel, Gavin and Grace aboard the 32-foot Luhrs Blue Star. The family headed out with Captain Chewy for a six-hour private charter and returned with two very different offshore game fish — one large tuna and one dorado. Rather than being a numbers-driven day, this charter was highlighted by variety. The tuna provided the heavier, more powerful battle, while the dorado added the speed and brilliant coloration associated with one of Cabo's most recognizable offshore species. Searching Productive Water While Fishing Offshore From Cabo A six-hour charter provides a useful balance between fishing time and offshore range. Captain Chewy was able to search beyond the immediate marina area while still keeping the trip comfortable for a family that included 10-year-old Daniel. Conditions were warm during the August charter. The original fishing record reported water temperatures around 83–85°F, air temperatures around 90–92°F and relatively light winds. Finding productive water remained the objective. When the large tuna entered the action, the family experienced the strength that makes tuna such a popular offshore target. These fish can remain deep during a fight, using their power and endurance against the angler. The dorado offered a completely different encounter. Dorado are fast, energetic game fish recognized immediately by their bright coloration. Catching one on the same charter as a quality tuna gave the group two contrasting examples of Cabo's summer fishery. For Daniel, at 10 years old, the charter offered an opportunity to see firsthand how an offshore fishing trip develops. There can be periods of searching followed by sudden action when a game fish finds the presentation. That unpredictability is part of offshore fishing. Once a fish is hooked, the atmosphere aboard the boat changes immediately. The crew manages the equipment and fishing area while the angler concentrates on the fight and everyone else gets to watch the encounter develop. On August 7, the family experienced that process with two different species. Tuna and Dorado Complete a Six-Hour Cabo Charter By the end of the six-hour trip, Payam, Daniel, Gavin and Grace had put together a simple but memorable fishing result. One large tuna provided the heavyweight encounter. One dorado added another quality game fish to the day. The result demonstrated that a productive Cabo charter does not necessarily require a large number of fish. Two quality catches from different species can provide plenty of action and give visiting anglers a better appreciation for the variety available in the waters surrounding Cabo San Lucas. For this family, August 7 became a day built around warm summer conditions, six hours together on the Pacific and two distinctly different offshore catches.
