Cabo Fishing Starts With a 14-Person Family Group
Fourteen passengers changes the requirements of a fishing charter.
Andrea's party included 11 adults and three children, making the 60' Bertram Blue Sea an appropriate platform for keeping the entire group together.
Rather than dividing the family among different boats, everyone could share the same eight-hour experience.
Captain Alex departed at 6:15 AM.
Breakfast, lunch and an open bar were included, while the dredge added another specialized component to the fishing program.
The charter was scheduled to return at 2:15 PM, giving Captain Alex a full eight-hour window to search Cabo's offshore water.
Fishing Report Records the Dredge Program
The dredge is designed to create the visual appearance of a concentrated school of baitfish beneath the surface.
Rather than functioning as the hooked fishing lure itself, the dredge becomes an attraction system.
Its movement can help draw the attention of offshore predators toward the trolling presentation.
For this July 11 charter, Captain Alex and the crew incorporated the dredge while searching for pelagic gamefish.
The result eventually became a two-species day.
Cabo Report Features a Marlin Release
One marlin supplied the billfish encounter.
A hooked marlin immediately changes the atmosphere aboard a fishing boat.
Captain Alex must position Blue Sea while the crew manages the remaining tackle and assists the angler through the fight.
For a group of 14, everyone aboard gets to experience the excitement even though only one angler is connected directly to the fish.
The marlin was successfully released.
Blue Sky Cabo is a marlin and billfish release company.
That means the goal is to provide the complete fishing experience while returning the billfish to the ocean.
Fishing Report Adds a Dorado to the Catch
The second species was dorado.
Dorado provide a dramatically different fishing experience from marlin.
They are known for rapid acceleration, aggressive strikes, brilliant coloration and energetic surface fights.
Catching both species during the same eight-hour charter gave Andrea's family two distinctly different examples of Cabo offshore fishing.

Cabo Fishing Conditions Complete the Historical Record
The July 11 historical conditions provide additional context.
Water temperature was approximately 80°F.
Air temperature was around 80°F during the early portion of the charter and climbed toward approximately 88°F.
Wind was generally around 8–13 mph.
The moon was in a waning crescent phase with approximately 37% illumination.
These statistics describe the environment surrounding the charter, but they do not determine the catch.
Captain decisions, bait concentrations, current, water movement, trolling presentations and the ability to adjust remain important parts of offshore fishing.
Fishing Report Shows Why Blue Sea Works for Large Groups
This charter was also about group logistics.
Fourteen people needed a boat capable of allowing the family to remain together while still giving Captain Alex and the crew room to operate.
