35' Blue Water Riviera – Cabo Fishing Report
August 5, 2023
Kermit, Cassius, Chase and Eric, visiting from the Los Angeles, California area, started early aboard the 35' Blue Water Riviera for a four-hour morning trip with Captain Oscar. Their short fishing window produced an evenly divided catch of two dorado and two skipjack before the 10:00 AM return.

Four Anglers Find Two Cabo Species
This charter had an interesting symmetry.
Four anglers fished for four hours and recorded four fish.
The catch was divided evenly between two species, with two dorado and two skipjack providing different experiences for Kermit, Cassius, Chase and Eric.
With a four-hour charter, the crew has less time to search than on a six- or eight-hour outing. That makes each opportunity particularly valuable.
The Blue Water converted enough of those opportunities to put two different offshore species on the report.
Dorado Deliver the Color
Two dorado provided the most recognizable Cabo catches of the morning.
Dorado are known for their brilliant coloration, speed and energetic fights. They can also move quickly as bait and currents change, requiring crews to continually evaluate the water around them.
Birds, floating debris, weed lines and visible bait activity are among the signs that can help point toward productive areas.
On this trip, two dorado made it into the final count.
Skipjack Bring a Different Fight
The other half of the catch came from two skipjack.
These members of the tuna family are strong fighters and can deliver impressive runs for their size.
Blue Sky Cabo releases skipjack.
For the anglers, switching from the colorful surface-oriented action of dorado to the determined fight of a skipjack created useful variety during a relatively short trip.
Back at F Dock by 10:00 AM
Kermit, Cassius, Chase and Eric had departed at 6:00 AM and completed their charter by 10:00 AM.
That made this a compact Cabo fishing experience while still producing four fish and two species.
The final result was balanced and easy to remember: two dorado, two skipjack, four anglers and four hours aboard the 35' Blue Water Riviera.
