35' Blue Water Riviera – Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report
August 8, 2023
Lester, Jennifer, Nicholas and Christopher, visiting from the South Florida area, started their August 8 charter with an inshore fishing plan.
Snapper, roosterfish and grouper were among the species they hoped to target.
Five hours later, their actual Cabo San Lucas fishing report told a different story.
Captain Oscar and the 35' Blue Water Riviera returned to F Dock with two dorado and two skipjack recorded for the four anglers.

Inshore Cabo Fishing Plans Meet Changing Conditions
This charter is a good example of why a fishing plan and an actual fishing report can look very different.
Lester's group was interested in snapper, roosterfish and grouper.
Those were the targets.
But successful fishing also requires crews to recognize what the water is offering on a particular day.
Rather than ending with one of the original target species, the group encountered dorado and skipjack.
The result was four fish across two species during five hours.
Dorado Fishing Adds an Unexpected Cabo Opportunity
Two dorado became half of the catch.
Dorado are a well-known Cabo San Lucas gamefish recognized for brilliant coloration, speed and energetic fights.
Although Lester's group had started with an inshore focus, the dorado provided an opportunity worth taking when the fishing developed differently from the original plan.
For anglers researching fishing in Cabo San Lucas, this is an important point: species availability is dynamic.
Daily conditions can create opportunities that differ from what guests expected before leaving the marina.
Two Skipjack Bring a Different Fight
Two skipjack completed the day's catch.
Skipjack belong to the tuna family and can produce surprisingly strong fights relative to their size.
Blue Sky Cabo releases skipjack.
For Lester, Jennifer, Nicholas and Christopher, the skipjack added another type of fishing experience to a morning that had already shifted considerably from the original target list.
Four anglers ultimately recorded four fish—two dorado and two skipjack.
Why Cabo Fishing Flexibility Matters
The Blue Water departed F Dock at 6:00 AM and had only five hours available before the scheduled 11:00 AM return.
On a shorter charter, adapting efficiently can be particularly important because there isn't an entire day available to wait for one specific species to cooperate.
Captain Oscar and the group finished the available fishing window with two species represented on the catch report.
The morning also provides a useful real-world example for anglers researching inshore fishing in Cabo San Lucas: the requested target species and the species actually encountered aren't always the same.
Lester, Jennifer, Nicholas and Christopher started August 8 thinking about snapper, roosterfish and grouper.
They returned with a completely different story—two dorado and two skipjack after five hours aboard the 35' Blue Water Riviera.
