Cabo Fishing Report Shows Consistent Morning Action
Ryan and Kerri had a very different charter setup from a larger group.
With only two anglers aboard the 35' Riviera, each had plenty of room to participate when fish entered the spread.
Captain David had five hours available, making the 6:00 AM departure important. The early start maximized the cooler morning fishing period and gave Blue Water a complete window through 11:00 AM.
August water around Cabo was running in the mid-80°F range, supporting the warm-water pelagic species that produced the morning's action.
Four skipjack accounted for most of the hookups.
Skipjack are fast, muscular fish that can deliver aggressive strikes followed by surprisingly powerful runs. With four caught during the charter, Ryan and Kerri had repeated opportunities to experience their strength.
Cabo Charter Fish Variety Includes a Dorado
The dorado changed the character of the morning.
Dorado are one of the most recognizable species associated with Cabo's summer fishing season. Their speed, surface runs, jumps and brilliant coloration make even a single dorado a memorable part of a charter.
The statistics were particularly strong for a two-person trip.
Five total fish during five hours worked out to an average of one fish per charter hour. With Ryan and Kerri as the only anglers aboard, the overall catch represented 2.5 fish per person.
More importantly, the catch included two different pelagic species rather than repeated action from only one type of fish.
The five-hour format also had another summer advantage. Ryan and Kerri were scheduled back at the marina at 11:00 AM, before the strongest afternoon heat.
For a couple wanting a private Cabo fishing experience without committing to a full eight-hour day, this August 14 charter demonstrated what a productive morning can look like.
Captain David and Blue Water converted the available fishing window into five fish across two species for two anglers.
