Jackson, Robert and Mindy, staying at Cabo Azul Resort in San José del Cabo, reserved a private fishing excursion with Captain Jorge assigned to the vessel. The charter was scheduled to depart F Dock at IGY Marina at 6:00 AM, with a planned return at 11:00 AM. The fishing record confirmed two marlin caught and released, along with two dorado caught. The three guests also selected the optional dredge fishing system for their morning offshore adventure. For Mindy, Jackson and Robert, the five-hour schedule provided a dedicated offshore fishing window before midday. Marlin are among Cabo San Lucas's most celebrated game fish, known for their strength, speed and powerful runs. Dorado, also called mahi-mahi, are recognized for their brilliant coloration and energetic fights. Catching both species during the same charter provided variety for the three-person group. The booking did not identify which passenger caught each fish, so the results are credited to the charter as a whole. Cabo Fishing Yacht – Dredge Equipment and Captain Jorge Captain Jorge was assigned to the 32-foot Luhrs Blue Star for this private fishing excursion. The reservation included Blue Sky Cabo's optional dredge system. A dredge is a specialized trolling attraction designed to resemble a school of baitfish beneath the surface. These presentations can attract the attention of offshore predators, including marlin. Although the dredge was included, the historical record did not establish which catches resulted directly from its use. The exact fishing grounds, individual fish sizes and complete tackle presentations were not documented. Both marlin were released in accordance with Blue Sky Cabo's billfish conservation policy. The disposition of the two dorado was not specified. Cabo Fishing Report – A Productive January Morning The three guests selected a five-hour private charter, scheduled from 6:00 AM until 11:00 AM. This morning departure allowed the group to pursue offshore game fish while leaving the afternoon available for other vacation activities. Traveling from Cabo Azul Resort in San José del Cabo, the guests had a private fishing reservation departing from IGY Marina in Cabo San Lucas. The recorded result illustrates the variety of game fish that can be encountered during a January fishing excursion. With two billfish releases and two dorado, this was a successful historical outing for the Blue Star. Their five-hour private fishing charter produced four landed gamefish, including two striped marlin, one sailfish and one dorado, all caught near the famous Cabo San Lucas Lighthouse. Captain Chewy and his crew concentrated on the productive Pacific waters immediately offshore, using live ballyhoo and tournament-style dredge equipment to attract gamefish. October 13, 2026 – Cabo Fishing Charter Hooks First Marlin Departing IGY Marina at 6:00 AM, Christine's group headed toward the Lighthouse fishing grounds. The first successful hookup came at 8:15 AM when a striped marlin struck live ballyhoo close to the Lighthouse. The crew successfully landed the fish, providing an exciting start to the morning. Rather than traveling farther offshore, Captain Chewy continued working the nearby waters where fish were actively feeding. Cabo Fishing Charter Lands Sailfish and Dorado At 9:35 AM, a sailfish attacked live ballyhoo approximately two miles in front of the Lighthouse. The crew successfully landed the sailfish, adding a second billfish species to the day's catch. Only 25 minutes later, at 10:00 AM, a dorado struck ballyhoo approximately half a mile offshore. Three different species had now been landed during the same five-hour charter, demonstrating the variety of gamefish available in Cabo San Lucas. Cabo Fishing Charter Releases Second Striped Marlin The final successful strike arrived at 10:40 AM, just 20 minutes before the scheduled return. A second striped marlin took live ballyhoo directly in front of the Lighthouse. Following the fight, the marlin was successfully landed and released in good condition. The two striped marlin were released, consistent with Blue Sky Cabo's responsible billfish fishing practices.
