Trip Summary
Montague Island.
The fishing at Montague Island for the Yellowtail Kingfish has kicked up a gear. With most anglers getting more than they bargained for when on the other end of, these fish that punch well above their weight . We have had great catches of Kingfish over the the last couple of weeks with some nice Snapper being taken amoungst them. We have been catching them on live baits, Jigs and they have been taking fresh squid strips with gusto.
We have also been heading out to the Fad, which is located about 2 miles N/E of the island chasing Mahi Mahi. The customers have had great fun pitching live bait towards the Fad, Hooking up and watching these acrobats dance around . We have managed fish up to 95cm out here.

The Marlin season has also kicked up a notch with plenty of boats catching multiple fish for the day, it hasn't been uncommon to hear of some boats reaching double digits for tag and realease.
We have done a couple of trips out to the shelf , and haven't disapointed, We boated a couple of nice Striped Marlin, tagged a few more, Caught and released a big Bronze whaler Shark, we kept an 80kg Mako and also caught a nice 50kg Shortbill spearfish..
