Bonita are powerful swimmers that can provide energetic fights on conventional fishing tackle. Skipjack frequently travel in schools and are known for their aggressive feeding behavior. For Justin's group, the combination of ten bonita and three skipjack provided most of the morning's fishing activity. The addition of one dorado brought the total to three species and gave the group one of Cabo's most recognizable gamefish. Although the specific fishing grounds were not recorded, the five-hour charter provided an opportunity to experience the variety of fish available in the waters surrounding Cabo San Lucas. Cabo Dorado Fishing During March The dorado was the featured gamefish of the March 15, 2024 outing. Also known as mahi-mahi, dorado are popular with visiting anglers for their fighting ability, brilliant coloration, and excellent quality as table fish. While Cabo's strongest dorado fishing generally occurs during warmer months, individual fish can be encountered outside the peak season. Catching one during March added variety to a charter that already included considerable bonita and skipjack activity. For anglers planning a Cabo fishing trip, this demonstrates the value of remaining flexible about target species. Different fish may become available depending on seasonal conditions and offshore activity. Cabo Fishing Equipment and Private Charter Experience Justin's charter included a dredge teaser, a specialized trolling system designed to imitate a concentrated school of baitfish. Dredges are commonly used in offshore sportfishing to attract the attention of predatory gamefish, particularly billfish. Blue Sky Cabo Fishing Charters offers this equipment as an optional enhancement for guests interested in specialized trolling techniques. The precise influence of the dredge on this charter's results cannot be established, but its inclusion provided another presentation option during the morning. The 32-foot Luhrs Blue Star accommodates private fishing groups interested in a dedicated vessel and crew. For Justin, Alyssa, and Matthew, the scheduled five-hour trip concluded at 11:00 AM with 14 fish caught. Cabo Fishing Report Summary – Three Species in Five Hours The final catch included one dorado, ten bonita, and three skipjack, giving Justin's group a productive morning aboard the Blue Star. The bonita and skipjack accounted for most of the catch, while the dorado added a popular offshore gamefish. Blue Sky Cabo Fishing Charters operates private sportfishing vessels from Cabo Marina, offering different boat sizes and charter durations for visiting anglers. This March 15, 2024 outing illustrates the multi-species opportunities that can be available during a shorter Cabo fishing charter.
