We had a great time with Captain Josh on the Just Reel for a hour 6 hour trip. We started off the day with sabiki rigs and fished for cigar minnows for live bait. Once that was over we trolled several spots and had a blast catching King Mackeral and Spanish Mackeral. We then moved out to reefs and did some fishing on the bottom and caught red snappers, trigger fish, vermilion and white snappers too. Even had a cobia and fought a large Dusky shark off of the reefs on light tackle for awhile until the line finally broke. Captain Josh is an amazing guide who will take the time to teach you what he knows about fishing. He never took his attention off of us and was always willing to fo whatever we asked. I highly recommend taking a 6 hour trip with Captain Josh. You won’t regret it!

You can’t go wrong if you plan a fishing trip with Josh.  He took my 7 year old grandson out with his dad and grandpa and they had a great experience.  The water was a bit rough and my grandson got a little seasick but he forgot all about that when he was telling about catching his fish. The only thing he told me he wanted to catch was a mahi-mahi and the very first fish he caught was a mahi-mahi!  Josh knows where the fish are and he wanted to be sure he knew what we wanted to experience.  My grandson was thrilled but my son in law and husband both agreed it was an awesome experience.  They couldn’t say enough good things about Josh.  His knowledge, his experience and the way he interacted with our grandson was too notch!
We would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to take a fishing trip but especially if you have young kids you want to take out! 
He cleaned our fish and we took it to Dewy’s restaurant to prepare four evening meal and it was delicious!  Fed 6 of us with plenty left to take for lunch the next day!
Thank you Josh for helping make lasting memories for our family.  Hopefully we will be going out with you again!

He gave 100 percent effort from the time we left the marina until the time we said goodbye at the end of our trip.

Other reviewers have remarked about how good Capt. Josh is with kids. It’s true. He was so kind and respectful to my boys and nephew and did everything he could to make it a positive and educational experience for them. Each of us had a blast and gained knowledge about marine life and saltwater angling.

Aside from a bunch of great memories, we also took home enough fish for a great family meal.

No complaints here. We hope to catch back up with Capt. Josh in the future.

We can’t say enough great things about Just Reel and Captain Josh! We booked a short trolling trip for our family (two parents and a three and a half year old). Captain Josh was so accommodating and great with a young kid. He catered to our needs and knew how to get our daughter engaged and involved. He had even brought cut squid as a “backup” in case we weren’t catching much so she would have a chance to reel. We didn’t need to use that, however, because we caught quite a few fish. He was communicative beforehand to make sure he understood our objective for the trip. The weather initially didn’t look promising, so he even offered to reserve a day later in the week to make sure our daughter got the fishing experience she was hoping for. When we’re back in Destin we’ll definitely be booking with Just Reel again!

Myself and my 14 yr old son ended up being the only two to go. My 11yr old daughter and her friend got so sunburnt the day before they couldn’t come out with us. Beware of overcast days in Destin. You will get fried!!  So we weren’t having the best weather on our vacation. The day before Captain Josh called and gave us some options, but left it totally up to us. Ended up trolling for mackerel. Caught a whole mess of fish. Had a blast. Josh was just a great host and super down to earth and easy to talk to. He’s from Destin so he gave us a lot of tips etc about the area. I would highly highly recommend this trip with the guys or the family. Filleted some of our fish up special so we could take them up to the restaurant at the harbor. What a great experience.
