Chartered this fishing trip for my husband for his birthday.  it coincided with the OceanCity airshow.  The day of the charter,  there was a strong wind advisory so the five hour ocean fishing became a four hour bay fishing trip.  The captain and mate were good and attentive to people on the boat.  The mate kept everyone entertained which were greatly appreciated.  Fishing for flounder did not yield any fish which may have been impacted by the number of boats for the air show.  Towards the end the captain took them to a place where they were able to catch some small spot which were tossed back.

They kept the hooks baited consistently, acquired a pillow for someone who needed it, did a great job of untangling tangled lines.  The were very focused on helping keep the people able to fish.

Our fishers were discouraged when they were asked midway if they wanted to give up and end the charter after about 21/2 hours.  Since they already had the 5 hr trip shortened to 4 hours, it was not a great question.

The Captain had new “back room” billing software and was challenged to produce the final bill reflecting the change from 5 hours to 4 hours, reflecting down payment. This should quickly improve as the Captain gets used to the software.

Captin John was ready and prepared. The day we booked he was quick to point out the weather was not good. We agreed to go the next day. Good choice! The seas still on the rough side but he had the trip plotted out. Unfortunately the fish didn’t get the memo. The water we was all turned up, and they where not biting much. We never got to hammer them. We Cought several each, just didn’t come home with a lot. The cap and his hand worked very hard to make our trip memorable. The other boats around us was catching less then us. That is fishing. We plan to book our next trip with Captain John.

We were in Ocean City vacationing and booked a trip with John for mid-week.  Unfortunately our trip was cancelled due to weather.  John understood our schedule and desire to get my nephews on the water.  He put a great deal of effort into trying work around our schedule and find another opening in the weather to re-book the trip.  Unfortunately the weather didn’t work in our favor but I thought John’s efforts went above and beyond what he needed to do for us.  He was passionate about trying to make it happen and stayed in communication over multiple days.  We will return someday and when we do, we’ll seek out John for another trip.

Captain John has been working these waters for his whole life. If you want a comfortable and exciting charter trip where you gain a friend you will see for many future summers, this is the ticket. Not only will he take you on a fishing trip, he will provide you and your party with knowledge that only his years of experience can bring. His crew is top notch and his boat is immaculate. I suspect in the next year or two we will find that he is booked before the season begins! When I bought my own boat and moved to ocean city it was John who we called first to show me around the local waters. Now me and my wife are customers!
