My experience with Poseidon Fishing Charters was disappointing. Take my opinion for what it’s worth, but in my experience, what they advertise through FishingBooker as an offshore fishing experience is not what they deliver. When I booked, they listed options for targeting grouper, mahi-mahi, and red snapper, which I paid for based on the selections provided. I also specifically searched for a charter with a toilet on board, and their listing came up as meeting these criteria.
Upon arrival, the water was choppy—something out of anyone’s control, and I have no complaints about that. The issue arose when I learned that, based on the charter’s restrictions and the duration I selected (four hours), they could not go offshore as advertised. In fact, I was told their charter is limited to five miles offshore, meaning grouper and mahi-mahi weren’t even an option within that range. This critical detail was not communicated when I confirmed my booking; if it had been, I would have canceled.
Additionally, the boat was smaller than expected and did not have a toilet onboard as advertised. While that wasn’t the main issue, it added to the overall disappointment. Instead of the offshore fishing experience I paid for, we were taken inshore—a less expensive type of charter—without any adjustment to the price.
To top it off, the captain was urinating off the back of the boat while I was fishing nearby, which I found unprofessional and off-putting. After doing further research, I’ve seen reviews mentioning similar issues, which suggests this may be a recurring practice.
In summary, I would advise caution if you’re considering Poseidon Fishing Charters for an offshore adventure. My experience didn’t align with what was advertised, and the lack of transparency left me disappointed. When I called after the charter to share my experience, they were unwilling to adjust the price from the offshore rate to the inshore rate. Instead, they offered me a credit for a future trip, which I have no intention of using. Essentially, the offer was pointless.
