Booking a charter on a vacation several weeks/months can be a gamble on the weather.  We had a somewhat windy day which made conditions fairly challenging to find fish.  Bite was slow but Doug put us on a few trout immediately and continued to adjust until we found more fish.  We finished out the day with snook which was a blast.  Doug knew right where they were!  Enjoyed getting to know Doug!  Great guy!  I highly recommend Jewel of the Bay!  Good luck!

Can’t recommend Doug enough.  I happened to catch the worst weather week possible for fishing and we still made the most of it.  Doug called me the day prior and explained the conditions that we were up against… High Winds (35 MPH gusts), low tide, and Cold water temps. He told me that if it were him spending the money on the trip, he would probably cancel and that there was a good chance we wouldn’t catch much.  Because we are only see for the week and Wednesday was the best weather day, we chose to do it anyways.  He did everything he could on his end to make that day great for me and my dad, even through awful conditions.  We fished several different spots and weren’t having much luck, until we ultimately found a spot and caught our limit in trout and about 8+ other species of fish as well. Went it to it with the possibility of catching nothing and left with dinner for the whole family plus many other meals. Can’t wait to book Doug again when the weather conditions are better!

Awesome time. Capt Doug was very professional and understanding! We had a member of our trip who was not feeling well and he catered to their needs and showed compassion, even making a stop at a pier restarting for the bathroom. Class act. Then- back to the water! We started off a little slower (we were here on a really hot week of 90+ degree water temps) but Capt Doug took us to many different places to keep the action going (all of which we caught fish). We walked away with dinner! He’s understanding, professional, and definitely knows the waters. Had a great time and would definitely recommend.

Captain Doug took myself, my brother, and sister in law out for an awesome half day of fishing. I spoke with him the day prior and he is very honest and candid on conditions and outlook. We went about 6 miles out and we’re immediately on some fish at the bottom of the gulf. He is very professional and has a good personality for any crowd.I noticed he paid attention to detail and when one of our baits was off you could snap your fingers and he would have another so that the line would go back in the water. Would highly recommend going out with Doug as he knows the waters and is a top notch captain.
