I’ll start off by saying it takes a lot for me to write a bad review but my mission is to help the next family looking forward to a family trip from making same mistake I did. Mr. Joaquine was quite rude and pompous about his 22years fishing experience. Several times he yelled at my nephews (13) and (17) and even my 7year old son because he quoted fishing terms and commands that they didn’t understand instead of simplifying and articulating what he wanted them to do. He literally yelled at every individual on boat at least once (including myself and I’m paying for the trip). At some point, I had to tell him to watch his tone because we have all been looking forward to this trip because we went deep sea fishing last year and it was such an enjoyable experience. Thankfully he listened and his tone was much softer to everyone and even displayed some of his equipment, which was nice of his to explain and make an effort. He took us to several spots bayside and we caught just 1 black drum and a ton of tiny tiny catfish that we eventually threw out. The nightmare was finally over and we pulled into the doc and this guy proceeds to give the kids he virtually yelled at all morning fishing advice which basically is paraphrased as “you win some and you lose some, that’s part of fishing”…not verbatim what he said but it was the overall concept. Experience was so bad and he felt it as well, he offered to take us out again free of charge from Sept-Jan but under two conditions, 1) it has to be a day that’s not booked and 2) it can’t be cold outside. Well thanks! We’ve been doing these charters for the last few years and this business is all about creating an experience for your patrons. Be kind, be engaging, articulate what you want your passengers to do in a clear manner. I wholeheartedly couldn’t wait to get off boat and didn’t even want to tip the guy but figured maybe he was rude cuz things were tight financially. I wish I could get a full refund just due to principle cuz this guy did not deserve it. Anyways, I’m gonna try to enjoy the rest of trip and better believe this is a moment me and my family will never forget. I hope this captain just had a bad day and that maybe he changes for the better. Good luck!
