Definitely a mixed review on this trip….will break it down:

The Good
Clint took us to a location where we literally limited out on Snapper for the five of our family in about 20 minutes.  The snapper were relatively small, but legal.  As soon as you dropped the line in the water you would have a fish on the line.  The boat was nice and relatively easy riding.  Both Clint and Ben were very friendly and “clean cut”.  They did a great job taking baiting and taking fish off the lines.  For that 20-25 minute period it was awesome.

The Bad
We were supposed to leave at 6 a.m., but they were running late.  We didn’t leave until almost 6:30 a.m.  Prior to leaving, Clint told us he knew of a place that was 40 miles out, but was almost a guaranteed limit of snapper.  He said that the closer locations were somewhat overfished and it would hard to catch our limit.  Because of the extra fuel to get out there, he need an additional $200.  We debated, but decided to pay the extra money to better ensure good fishing.

It was about a 1.5 hr trip out to his location.  As stated above, the fishing was awesome, and we limited out in only a few minutes.

We asked about what else we could catch, and he didn’t want to do any other fishing.  He claimed it was too hot and that fishing had been “slow”.  We explained that we were from Texas and that it was cooler on the water than it was at 9:00 pm back home.  Nevertheless he headed the boat back in, and he didn’t give us the opportunity to fish any more.

We were back at the dock by 10:30.  Instead of a 6 hour trip for $1350, we had a 4 hour trip (since we left 30 min late) for $1550.  Yes, the fishing was awesome for short duration, but we really wanted to spend more time on the water fishing as a family.  We expected to have a full 6 hours fishing (even if we wouldn’t have had another bite).
