Captain James and his wife were amazing! My boyfriend and I treated my boyfriend’s dad to a fishing trip for his birthday. It was my and my boyfriend’s first time fishing in the ocean. Captain James was incredible. We caught quite a bit of fish. The captain is really great at what he does and is very knowledgeable about fishing. We fished at lots of different spots. It was a great atmosphere and an all around fantastic time. They cleaned the fish we were able to keep, as well! We were already talking about the next trip while still on the boat. Will absolutely book with them again next year!

We just had an absolutely incredible time deep-sea fishing with Captain James! From start to finish, it was a 5-star experience. Even with two people in our group who had never been on a fishing boat before, our guide was phenomenal—patient, knowledgeable, and made everyone feel comfortable and excited.
The fishing itself was fantastic! We reeled in a great variety of fish, including some beautiful mahi-mahi, bonitos, and monster red snapper. The highlight, though, was definitely spending a couple of hours battling a monster shark! It was an absolute thrill and something we’ll never forget.

My 2 sons (15 & 17) and I went out with Captain James and his wife.  It was a beautiful day, some fairly rough seas to start off but got better as the morning went on.  The bottom bite was very slow but Captain James was able to put us on the Mahi and we tagged out.  Went home with a freezer full of fish!  Captain James was great with updating us on what we were going to do and how we were going to do it.  We will definitely be back next year, we had an absolute blast!

My sons and I Booked a trip with Apex Charter, and it was remarkable.  I contacted Captain James the day before our trip and discussed the upcoming weather.  It was decided to leave an hour earlier than planned in order to get in as much time as possible.  We had scheduled an 8 hour trip for Mahi.  When the bite cooled off, my sons wanted to catch a shark.  Captain James had us on a 7 foot shark in no time flat.  The upcoming storm cut our trip short by a couple of hours, but we took several nice (9) Mahi and a Spanish Mackerel to the cleaning table.  We caught over 25 Banita and the shark as well.  We were refunded some of the cost due to the shortened trip due to the weather.  Captain James was very knowledgeable and communicated effectively.  The boat and equipment were great as well.  We are planning on Booking another 8 hour trip next year with Apex Charter and Captain James.

As for the captain’s ability to find fish and get us on action, we can’t complain at all, we had an amazing day killing anything and everything we wanted to try. Only thing I would improve would be in the beginning, there is a learning curve for how to handle everything and where to be on the boat. Sometimes things weren’t explained before hand, so things got a little crazy and the captain would started correcting us. Some times it felt like we were expected to know some things, coming from Missouri and not fishing much anyway, we did not, we did not know which fish needed pulled out of the water to he cut off, for instance, Bonitos get pulled completely out of the water and he grabs the line and turns them loose; but you do not do this at all with a mahi mahi. We did not know this at first. The captain explained this all after mistakes were made. He is not rude, I just would appreciate more information before I began fishing.

After about the first hour though, we had a system, caught an amazing amount of fish, the captain was very nice and great to talk to, let us try all types of fishing; caught shark, mahi, and bonitos. I had an amazing time and would love to go back with him again.
