We caught plenty of good fish and took back some very nice filets for a few meals.
Captain Luke took us out into the gulf about 18 miles and anchored over a shallow coral reef. He proceeded to show us how to let down the line and operate the bail and before he could finish his sentence, he had the first fish on. It was literally non-stop action from then one. Lower the bait to the bottom and instantly a fish was attacking it. We quickly learned the trick of just reeling and not trying to set the hook. Once that was mastered, we had fish on non-stop! We caught mostly Grunts, many Mangrove Snappers just an inch too short to keep, Line Snapper, Trigger Fish, Sheepshead, Lizard Fish, and lots of Red and Gag Groupers. My 8-year-old grandson caught the biggest fish a 28โ 15lbs Gag Grouper. Highly recommend these guys! We will definitely use them again.
