My husband and I wanted to take our two young boys out. There are other options on the island that are much more commercialized with the purpose of entertaining (parties and corporate), sunset cruising, and toting folks that may not want to fish. That was not our purpose. We just simply wanted to fish. Captain D called me ahead of our trip to discuss changing times based on his past weeks fishing experience. He said no one had been catching anything in the afternoons so he suggested the morning time instead. We weren’t going to not catch fish so we took his advice and changed to the AM. Glad we did too. We took Captain D’s smaller boat out (that still included a bathroom and covered cabin). Captain D was a laid back man who made the experience enjoyable and relaxing. We drove to the first spot and when the fish weren’t nibbling, he knew not to waste much time and took us to a new spot. We ended up taking home 30 white perch on our trip and had a fantastic fish taco dinner recommended by Captain D after our trip. While my family may like to fish for more than 4 hours sometimes, the 4-hr trip is a nice short option to get a little fishing done and still have the rest of your day to do stuff and not be completely exhausted. Some extended charters can be super draining, especially when basking in the heat and/or when not catching anything. When we got back, Captain D filleted our fish nicely and we were on our way. Overall it was good experience and we definitely recommend Captain D if an easygoing fishing experience is what you’re looking for.

Captain D was a Great Captain. He did a very good pre trip brief and gave us options so that we could get the experience that we were looking for. After the brief we got to are target area rather quickly and he got us on top of fish. Couldn’t ask for a better afternoon out with the family and look forward to fishing with him again soon.

We took our family and it was our 4 kids first time on a fishing boat. They had a blast and he was amazing with the kids with helping them fish. Even released the fish at the end of the trip what the kids called “big eye” whom they all wanted released (live bait fish). Caught many large stripers and smaller fish for the kids. Will definitely charter with Darnell in the future again!

We had a great time on our trip. I have nothing but great things to say bout the captain. At first the fish were not biting but he did everything he could to make sure we got some fish. He was very down to earth and funny. We was very accommodating and helpful while doing all the tasks himself as he was alone. We caught a crazy amount of fish and had a blast. We will definitely be booking again !!!
