Be careful not to confuse beach fishing with kayak fishing. Beach fishing was fun but I thought I was booking kayak fishing.
Guide was inexperienced but very nice but compared to other guides at the same price Iโve fished with he lacked the experience necessary to put us onto to the fish we were after, especially at his price point. First spot he met us at produced a large tarpon bite but then spent the next 3 hours taking us to spots that were unfishable due to seaweed. 3/4โs of the trip were spent either in the car driving to spots or trying to fish spots that were unfishable. Guide should have scouted those spots pre-trip to make sure we could fish them that day. We also paid for a kayak trip, in the hopes we could fish more water, but less than 36 hours before the trip he decided it would be a shore fishing trip. The shore fishing price vs. a kayak trip should have led to a discount. The price without a boat was a little excessive, especially since there would be no fuel cost for the guide. Guide compared to other guides Iโve fished with was hesitant to switch up baits, even when they had proven not be effective. While the guide was very nice and enjoyable to spend time with, he did not seem to have the guiding experience or knowledge to help put his guests onto the fish they were after. If this trip were in the $150-200 price range it would have been worth it but I would not book this at this price point.
