A group of us come to the gulf every year for vacation and take a half day fishing excursion. So this isn’t our first rodeo. The fishing here is good and I definitely recommend fishing around Gulf Shores. The captain unfortunately simply wasn’t great. He has done it his entire life but doesn’t enjoy it…..and it showed. The boat wasn’t maintained and the captain wasn’t very friendly. It was a very small boat that I would only recommend 2 people fishing, it was cramped and difficult to move around. Every captain in the past has asked us what we wanted to fish for and has offered to take pictures, etc. He did none of these things. When we returned, there was a group of 3 guys next to us who caught twice as many fish. To be fair, we caught 12 decent fish and had a good day on the water. But compared to every past trip, this was just OK.
