My fiancé and I have done charters in Oregon and multiple in Hawaii and never have we had so much fun and caught so many fish! Captain Mike was the epitome of an ‘old sea dog’ with salt permanently etched in his skin and a knowledge that knows no bounds in regards to his calling. As soon as a line would go down, we would be reeling it back up because we had a fish on. To say that we were (my fiancé and I) giggling like school girls would be an understatement! We were elated. The boat was clean and well taken care of, the rods and reels easy to use, Captain Mike went above and beyond for us and we couldn’t have asked for a better captain or a better time. We can’t wait to be back and take our families. We will always recommend him and this charter to anyone who asks or anyone who doesn’t!

It was a pleasure getting to know Captain Mike and being on this Charter boat with him! He was very personable and knowledgeable with his fishing techniques. He definitely put our kids in mind when it comes to fishing and making sure the whole family have fun! The whole family were actively catching fish the entire time.

We saw dolphins along the way which he stopped for photos and videos. Our kids were so happy watching the dolphins swim by! Also, he took great family captures of us while on the boat and also on the dock with our freshly catch. Mike was also nice enough to filet our fish for dinner and suggested his son’s restaurant to go for the cooking - which was delicious and amazing! We had such a great experience going on this fishing adventure with Mike that we want to book with him AGAIN in the future when we are back in Destin, FL.

First time on a charter in Florida.  Capt Mike was quick to orient us and put us on fish. By the end of our time we were racing to real up the next fish and was only 10 seconds from dropping bait until we were pulling up amber jack or red groupers. Would use this captain again in the future for sure!! Quick to help with equipment and we kept him busy pulling fish off the lines and putting on fresh bait!!

My daughter(6) and I booked a 3 hour kids trip with Mike and he made it a great time. Started with Mike knowing the fishing has been better in the mornings, he called and asked if we would be able to move our trip from 1:30pm to 7am. Moving the trip to 7am was great and within the first 15 minutes we had 4 fish in the box. We kept 5 for a meal and released the rest. Mike kept us on fish and made a couple moves to see if we could get on some more/bigger fish. Multiple times we doubled up on fish, Mike helped out my daughter and she had a great time reeling in the fish.

Mike is a genuine, honest, knowledgeable guy that put us on fish immediately. Pretty much every drop of the bait was a catch! Had a blast from the get go. Nice boat and setup, everything was in order, just a fantastic afternoon trip. Ended the trip with a 40 min fight getting in a trophy Cobia! Can’t say enough good about First Shot Charter!
