Captain Mason was great. The weather was great. Fish weren't biting.

Half Day Trip3 adults

We had a great day on the water and Captain Mason was a great host. We tried several fishing spots to try and catch fish, but it was early in the season, April 3rd, and the fish weren't biting. However, Captain Mason moved from one spot to another, every 15-20 minutes to give us a chance. The last cast of the day, we caught a Black Drum. Technically, it wasn't the last cast because Captain Mason extended our trip an additional 20 minutes hoping that one Drum meant that there might be more. Sadly, it wasn't a school of Drum, just the one. Anyone who has fished knows that there will be days like these. We enjoyed it even with one catch for the day. I would book again with Captain Mason and would recommend him to anyone else who is looking for a charter from Carolina Beach. We had 3 people in our group, and that felt like a comfortable amount for the size of the boat and not crossing fishing lines.

    Epic day

    Half Day Trip • 5 adults

    Mason put us fish all day long. Target fish of course was the red fish. Started out putting a hurting on sheep’s head, black drum, and flounder. Unfortunately the season was out for flounder but had it been in we had some nice keepers. Moved on to the red drum. Started out a little slow, then the action picked up. Largest caught was 29 inches which we threw back. We ended the day how we started. I highly recommend Mason with Grandslam Inshore charters. Great captain!!!

    We had an awesome experience fishing with Captain Mason and would absolutely book again. From the start, he was friendly, professional, and very attentive to everyone on the boat. He took the time to explain things, answer questions, and make sure we were comfortable throughout the trip. You can tell he is very knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to fishing and knowing the local waters. What really stood out was how hard he worked to keep us on fish. He was constantly paying attention to conditions, moving when needed, and making sure we had the best chance possible to catch something. Thankfully, it paid off because we caught fish and had a great time doing it. He was patient, encouraging, and genuinely seemed to enjoy helping everyone have a successful trip. The entire experience felt relaxed, organized, and fun from beginning to end. Whether you are experienced or completely new to fishing, Captain Mason makes the trip enjoyable and stress free. We left with great memories, some great catches, and already talked about booking another trip in the future. Highly recommend Captain Mason to anyone looking for a great fishing charter experience.

    Great Captain, Great Scenery

    Cpt Porter knows the Cape Fear area incesibly well. he doesnt waste time fishing areas if they’re not eating. he moves on. sometimes several spots in a row and then, “Bam!”. it happens, and that spot yields fish. You cant beat the scenery of the Southport/OKI scenery at the mouth of the Cape Fear. We caught our limit of reds to take home and nice filets nicely prepped by the captain, his razor sharp knife and custom filet board. we caught a 30”+ red to end the day and had 10-12 fish in the boat. I have fished with guides all over and he is a top fisherman and host.

    It started out slow thefirst areawe went to it was quiet so Mason move us a little and then BAM I caught 1 -27 in Red Drum and a 26 inch then it ot quiet so we moved to a few more places the last place he tookme too we hit the mother load I caugh 4 hugh Black Drum and big croakers it was funny one of the black drum I hooked his tail Mason said he never saw that before I had a great time Mason was awesome he taught me a lot about using live bait and was very professional im planning on booking again soon I highly recommend

    Amazing Fishing Trip

    We had a great time on our charter fishing trip! The captain was responsive, attentive, and made sure everyone had an enjoyable experience from start to finish. He was knowledgeable, patient, and worked hard to put us on fish while making the trip fun and relaxing. We appreciated his professionalism and willingness to answer questions throughout the day. We highly recommend booking with him and would definitely fish with him again!
