Paolo is a young experienced spearfisher.
We tried different areas from deeper to shallow waters and he has a good feeling what is able for beginners and is a good teacher. He knows his area good and is carful with the Harpune. We tried all the different techniques of spearfishing from near distance into caves and long distance shots hidden from behind rocks.

The advertised captain was not aboard but his father was and he was great. Good boat, drinks and breakfast. 5am to 9am. In hindsight, before booking, I should have asked what the best trip would be re catching because it wasn’t trolling in shallow waters - which I had requested. However, to be fair, after 2 hours of no action, the captain asked us if we wanted to switch. It was a good idea and we headed out to deeper water for bottom fishing with squid. More action, though small fish (all returned, snapper etc) and a decent conger lost at the surface. Reflecting, it was a nice trip in a cool rib over calm waters, seeing the sunrise and dolphins. I think deeper trolling/ offshore fishing with this boat or along coast at Vrsar would have been more productive. But we were staying in Rovinj and had a small window so it suited us.
