Tamarindo GU, Costa Rica

On the Pacific coast of Costa Rica since the 1970’s, Randy Wilson pioneered the sportfishing in this area with Tamarindo Sportfishing. Located close to the deep water, Tamarindo is the perfect base of operation. Spectacular year-round fishing for Sailfish, Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna, Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper, Wahoo, and assorted other inshore species are all accessible with a short run time. Spend your day fishing, not running towards the fish!

The ‘Talking Fish’ is a 38’ Topaz Express and with twin 671 Detroit diesels and lots of comfortable seating in the shade. Bring your music and hook it up to the sound system!

Mates Eithel Rosales and Max Campos are fun and knowledgeable and speak English. Fishing is their passion and they work hard so you’ll have the experience of a lifetime!

All equipment is top of the line with Penn International and Shimano tackle. The crew is happy to accommodate novices and families, as well as experienced anglers.

Conservation of the resource is important for the team, and Randy has developed techniques to make sure the billfish are released unharmed. With edible fish, they are happy to keep your catch filleted and on ice for the day so you can have it cooked at one of Tamarindo’s many superb restaurants. We look forward to taking you fishing!

Grew up in Miami, started fishing as a toddler! Fished and surfed all through high school and college. I moved to Costa Rica in 1974. Saw the incredible fishing here and grew my business from one small boat to now a fleet of 3 with local bilingual captains. After fishing here for 40 years, I am still excited about sharing the experience with anglers from all over the world and giving them the trip of a lifetime.

So happy to hear you enjoyed your trip. I hope you are having a big tuna dinner! Nice grouper, too. We hope to see you again some day.

Extremely knowledgeable Captain and friendly and efficient crew of two. We met at 7:30 AM, took a skiff to the boat and steamed for half an hour to reach blue water and fish for marlin. No luck on that, so on the way back to port we went grouper fishing. We caught eight fish in 20 minutes! We brought them to El Coconut and had an amazing meal! We’ll be back.
