On the Pacific coast of Costa Rica since the 1970s, Randy Wilson pioneered sportfishing in this area with Tamarindo Sportfishing. Located close to the deep water, Tamarindo is the perfect base of operation. Spectacular year-round fishing for Sailfish, Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna, Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper, Wahoo, and assorted other inshore species are all accessible with a short run time. Spend your day fishing, not running to where the fish are!
The 'Talking Fish' is our 38' Topaz Express with fast twin 671 Detroit diesels and lots of comfortable seating in the shade. The boat has a tower, a large cockpit area with a full-size fighting chair and full electronics. Bring your music and hook it up to the sound system.
With Captain Arturo Rosales at the helm and mates Javier and Honorio on deck, you are in for a great day on the water. They are all experienced, fun and knowledgeable and speak English. Fishing is their passion, and they work hard so you'll have the experience of a lifetime!
All equipment is Penn International and Shimano tackle. We are happy to accommodate experienced anglers as well as families and novices of all ages.
Conservation of the resource is important, and we use techniques to make sure the billfish are released unharmed. With edible fish, the crew is happy to keep your catch filleted and on ice for the day so you can have it cooked at one of Tamarindo's many superb restaurants. We look forward to taking you fishing!

We fished with 4 adults and 3 kids (ages 13,13,10). We caught a marlin, sailfish, and plenty of grouper and scorpion fish on our 3/4 day trip! December is not the best fishing month in CR so our expectations werent super high yet we were blown away. Waves were only 1-1.5 ft. Our boat was plenty spacious and tbe bathroom was bigger than we expected and very clean. It wasnt the newest or fastest boat on the water but we brought in more fish than any of the fancier boats and that is what was most important to us! The crew was knowledgeable and spoke great English. Food was fresh and drinks were plentiful.
The crew was very nice and helpful and went above and beyond expectations. The captain put us on fish.

We fished on Friday 8/2/2024 with Captain Arturo and Orandeo and Jose. The captain was fantastic, he met our family on the hot when we arrived and asked what we were looking to catch and what type of fishing we wanted. We had our family of four on the boat 'Talking Fish' and since my children have only fished a few times, we decided to fish on the reef for Tuna and Skip Jack. 20 minutes to the reef and within 45 hours we had multiple yellow tail (20 pounds) in the boat. The crew switched to drop fishing for Cobia and Red snapper. We love three times after hooking a black tip reef shark and bull shark. More trolling for medium / small sized yellowfin hooking up 5 rods for the four of us at the same time. After that we went farther offshore for billfish. Truly one of the best days on the water I have ever had for a half day and genuinely, the loose attentive and accommodating crew I have ever had the privilege to charter with. I cannot recommend Arturo and his crew enough.

This trip was amazing, starting with the boat. It was able to take on whatever was coming at us. The crew was amazing. The captain gave us a very welcoming greeting even though we couldn't speak due to his time spent on the tower. The mates were very very nice. They are willing to talk and have us some good stories. On top of the the gear used was in good shape and was ready for what we wanted to catch. Although we wanted billfish we were able to snag some Mahi Mahi. The mates filleted the fish right in front of us and made a platter which was phenomenal eating. As well what they supply was plenty enough to fill the 4 of us with plenty left over. Overall i recommend this charter to all people and i would do this again anytime i get the chance.

I'm Randy Wilson and I grew up in Miami, started fishing as a kid. Fished and surfed all through high school and college. I moved to Costa Rica in 1974. Experienced the incredible fishing here and developed my charter business. I ran the Talking Fish for over 30 years and stepped off the boat (and out of the sun) in November of 2023. I now operate and manage our two boats with experienced local bilingual captains and mates. After fishing here for 40+ years, I am still excited about sharing the experience with anglers from all over the world and giving them the trip of a lifetime! Our 38' Topaz TALKING FISH is captained by Arturo Rosales. Our 27' Dusky OUTCAST is captained by Javier Ruiz.
