On the Pacific coast of Costa Rica since the 1970s, Randy Wilson pioneered sportfishing in this area with Tamarindo Sportfishing. Located close to the deep water, Tamarindo is the perfect base of operation. Spectacular year-round fishing for Sailfish, Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna, Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper, Wahoo, and assorted other inshore species are all accessible with a short run time. Spend your day fishing, not running to where the fish are!
The OutCast is our 27' Dusky with fast twin 250 HP Cummins engines. Her wide 11' beam makes her very roomy and comfortable for up to 4 anglers. There is plenty of shaded seating, a tower, a spacious cockpit, a fighting chair, and full electronics. Tackle is all Penn International and Shimano.
Captain Javier Ruiz has been fishing these waters since the 1990s. His passion for fishing is contagious! Together with mate Isaac Mena, he will work hard to put you on the fish. Both speak English and are experienced and knowledgeable.
We are happy to accommodate experienced anglers as well as families and novices of all ages.
Conservation of the resource is important, and we use techniques to make sure the billfish are released unharmed. With edible fish, the crew is happy to keep your catch filleted and on ice for the day so you can have it cooked at one of Tamarindo's many superb restaurants. We look forward to taking you fishing!

We had an unforgettable day out on the water fishing! The thrill of reeling in four magnificent sailfish was truly an exhilarating experience that left us in awe. Their vibrant colors and impressive leaps were a sight to behold. We also ventured into deeper waters for some bottom fishing, where we brought up tilefish, grouper, rock, red snapper. It was a perfect day.
Hi Joseph, it was nice to meet you and your family. Thank you for the great review. We are so glad you enjoyed your day on the OUTCAST and we hope to see you again soon.
We booked a full day trip on the Outcast. Captain and mate were great, always trying new things if the fish weren't biting for a little bit. We ended up with 8 mahi, 2 blue marlin bites and a sailfish bite that unfortunately didn't make it to the boat but were still really cool to see and experience. Mate Issac clearly loves his job, he might've been even more upset than us after losing the second marlin. Overall great day. No shortage of hard work onboard to get us what we wanted. Absolutely booking again next time.

Caught a 50 pound Wahoo and 6 other smaller rock fish on our 5 hour tour! Was amazing!

So glad you enjoyed your trip. Beautiful sailfish, congratulations!
We had an incredible trip. Plenty of action , highlighted by the 250 lb blue marlin my daughter caugh. We also had 6 yellwfn and 4 big Mahi. The ce a two of the best in the business. I highly recommend this boat and it's crew. Can't wait till next time I return to Tamarindo.
