Launching out of Winthrop Harbor, Kinn's Sport Fishing takes their clients and friends to the productive waters of Lake Michigan. If you are looking for a freshwater adventure on your next vacations in Illinois, you have found the right place.
The Winthrop season begins in April as the lake begins to warm up. You will be able to start targeting Coho Salmon and Steelhead as they begin their hunt for schooling alewives. The season will go through May and will last for just under 6 weeks.
Your targeted species will also be active close to shore so you won't have to travel too far out to fill the cooler with the best-eating fish of the season!
Kinn's Sport Fishing operates a 36' Chris Craft boat with enough room for up to 6 anglers. Bring your friends and family with you to share these unforgettable moments!
The vessel comes powered by twin 330 HP Crusader engines and outfitted with modern GPS, fishfinder, and VHF radio to save your time while you're searching for Salmon and Trout. It also features a restroom for your maximum comfort while on the water.
Your trip will come inclusive with quality rods, reels, tackle, and lures, as well as cleaning and filleting of your catch. All aboard!

Took my 10 and 7yr old boys, let the boys catch em all and we had a limit of coho in no time at all, caption and deckhand were great with my boys! Will definitely book this trip again in the future!
My son and I had a wonderful time fishing with Kinns Sport Fishing! The crew were great and we reached our salmon max limit quickly. We will certainly be coming back again soon!
when arrived on time but was able to locate AB gate . the captain texed me asking where i was ,advised i was on premises but unsure where the gate was located . when we arrived at the boat there was no hi ? just tension . i advised if i was late his response was " yea a lil " . the captain seemed tense , upset or in a bad mood . this being our first trip i was expecting a little more welcoming , conversational . the boat when we arrived was ackward , and silence . daugther became sea sick and we ended the trip early .
I had three young grandsons with me and the captain and deck hand were wonderful with them. They were really nice guys. Halfway through the trip the wind kicked up bad and pretty much killed the bite. But all six of us still caught a fish. Despite the wind, the air temperature was great. It was a beautiful day. We all had a wonderful time on the water.

A team of experienced and professional anglers, Kinn's Sport Fishing is owned and operated by Captain Troy Mattson and Bret Cook. A North Dakota native and a 'flatlander,' Troy has always loved the outdoors. He is obsessed with Salmon fishing industry and has spent almost two decades mastering the Great Lakes. Troy is a proud husband and father of two little girls. Captain Bret Cook began exploring the Great Lakes in the mid-1990's. He partnered with the legendary Howard Kinn in 2000 and has never looked back.
