If you've always wanted to experience the fantastic river fishing that the North Oregon coast is known for, then join Hazen's Guide Service for a day on the plentiful Columbia River. As well as traveling to the hottest fishing grounds around, Captain Mike Hazen provides angling adventures that leave his guests with plenty of memories, and a lifelong friendship with their guide!
Capt. Mike is Coast Guard licensed and insured with a true passion for fishing. He has over 15 years of experience in the angling industry, and uses his wealth of knowledge to help his guests have a fun and productive day out on the water. Whether you're a seasoned fisherman or want to take your family on a special vacation, Capt. Mike can't wait to show you what these waters have to offer.
You'll be cruising the Columbia River on a 22' River Wild aluminum vessel. She's perfectly built to explore these bountiful waters, and can accommodate up to 6 anglers. Onboard, you'll find all the necessary safety and navigational equipment, including GPS, fishfinder, and life jackets for adults and children. You'll have a comfortable and productive day of reeling 'em in!
Most often your journey will start from the Astoria docks. Capt. Mike uses the weather, fishing regulations, and local fishing reports to determine exactly where the hottest fishing grounds are. As for the species you'll be targeting? Depending on the time of year, you'll be going after Coho and Chinook Salmon. If it's not Salmon season, you're still in luck— Steelhead and Sturgeon inhabit these waters all year round.
Your trip includes top-quality rods, reels, natural bait and lures to tempt your catch. Capt. Mike will clean and fillet your haul after your trip. If you want to give other anglers a chance to reel 'em in, then catch and release is allowed. All you need to bring is some warm clothes and a valid Oregon fishing license. We’ve been on two guided trips with Hazen Guiding Service out on the Columbia this year, one for sturgeon and one for salmon. Both days Mike did not disappoint! We hooked lots of fish each time and had a great time doing so. Mike is super knowledgeable, personable & passionate as well as equipped with a nice sturdy set up and we ended each day on a high. He’s got a great attitude, knows what he’s doing and happy to be out there like the rest of us. Whether you’re a first timer or seasoned on the water, I would definitely recommend Hazen Guiding Service and having Mike take you out.
Mike was an awesome guide to go fishing with, he’s very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his work. We caught a total of 15 sturgeon and the trip was such a great experience. Especially if you go out with family. This was our first family trip and Mike made sure we got to catch some big fish and also let us take some awesome pictures with them. I would 100% recommend anyone who is looking to take their family for a fishing trip to go with Mike. We had six people go out and since we were the first trip to go out on the water with it was very cool to experience it with Mike.
We booked a trip with Mike to celebrate a couple birthdays and wedding anniversaries at the end of July 2019. We had an amazing time fishing for Coho salmon. We were stoked to have a nice enough day to cross the Columbia River bar and be on the ocean. His boat and equipment were top notch. Mike's enthusiasm, professionalism, communication (before, during, and after the trip), and persistence to put us on fish were stellar! We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Mike was organized, knowledgeable about the fisheries, funny, and dialed in. We loved his passion for fishing and helping people create lasting memories. We will DEFINITELY be back to fish with him again!!!!

Mike found us lots of sturgeon to catch. We had 5 guests in the boat, and we all caught several fish. Great fun!!! Mike is a great guy to hang out on the river with, and catch fish. All his equipment was in good repair, and he even ordered up some great weather!

Eventually I earned a degree in fisheries and started a career in research and aquaculture. Still yearning for more time on the water fishing I decided to get my captain's license to become a fully certified fishing guide. Hazen's Guide Service LLC was formed soon after with the help of my lovely wife. Together we run a family owned business that strives to give all of our guests a top notch experience from start to finish.

You can cancel or modify your booking up to 7 days before the trip date, free of charge. If you cancel or modify your booking later, or fail to show up, you'll forfeit 100% of what you've paid.
