Running angling trips out of Southport / oak island, Seabbatical Charters invites you to check out the local fishery in style.
Your captain is here to get you on some fish, and to make sure you have fun doing it. You'll be using techniques like bottom fishing, trolling, fly fishing, drift fishing, handline, jigging, and spinning, depending on what you're going after. As part of their 3 to 12-hour trips, you can target species like Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, Cobia, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, and Shark, depending on the current season and weather conditions.
Your adventure begins on board a 30' Baha cruiser boat that can fit a maximum of 5 anglers. The boat is fitted with a toilet, ice box, and wireless trolling motor. All rods, reels and terminal tackle are included in the price so you can focus on what really matters, fishing. Your trip will include all the necessary fishing licenses for the day.
You'll be able to keep any legal species caught during the trip. There will be a first mate on board to help you with anything you need. Tips for good service are always appreciated. You'll find free drinks on the boat for your convenience, but you're always welcome to pack your own drinks and snacks should you want to.
Children are welcome aboard so you’re good to get the young ones started early.

Super fun day! 🦈
Half Day Trip – 4 hours morning on June 29, 2025 • 5 adults
We enjoyed our off shore trip with Capt Adam and mate. We arrived early and the boat was waiting for us. It was spacious and clean for a party of 6 with 3 teens. We caught dinner fish (Spanish Mackerel) then headed in a different direction so the boys could catch sharks! All the boys caught a shark, hammerheads and a sand shark. The mate (sorry I forgot your name!) filleted our Spanish mackerel right on the boat, bagged them up for us to take home.
It was NC hot this time of year, otherwise enjoyed our experience for very much!
Planning to go again Nov/Dec with Seabattical!

Great trip full of Action!!
Half Day Trip – 4 hours morning on August 17, 2025 • 4 adults
We fished small shark and caught three, kept two and had to throw away Black Tip due to size. Next fished Spanish Mackerel which was also fun and fast caught enough for two meals. Lastly, went chasing large sharks. In total snagged three but the 7 ft Spinner Shark we got up to the boat. Very successful trip and the guide is an extremely excited guide and loves doing it. I would recommend for trip out of Oak Island.

Memorable mother son fishing trip

I booked a last minute charter fishing trip with Captain Adam and his first mate.
Communication was very quick and all my questions were answered almost immediately. My 14yr old son and I had never been on a chartered fishing trip before and Adam made our first trip very fun and an experience that we will both always treasure.
Definitely a 5 star experience and something we hope to do again!

I've been out with Seabbatical Charters at least a dozen times. Captain Adam and Robert are top notch. Today was very special for me , I had my son and grandsons with me. As usual we caught fish and had a great time doing it. Capt Adam's personality is awsome the way he interacted with my 5 year old grandson was awesome and Robert is the best 1st mate around. We had 3 generations aboard today, so if there's one thing that Capt Adam and Seabbatical Charters do , they excel at is makeing memories.

Captain Adam was awesome. We had a small group of 6, including an 11 yr old. Adam recommended we go earlier in the morning because of the heat and stay in the bay given the sea conditions (both great calls). We caught sharks the entire time, just like we hoped for. Looking forward to doing more trips with this charter boat!
