Makaira Luxury Charters
Located in Malé City, Makaira Luxury Charters had its official launch during the Maldives Game Fishing Challenge in November of 2012. Although its first fishing trip coincided with the MGFC's kick-off, the boat managed to claim several awards during the tournament, including Champion Angler, Champion Team, and Champion Boat. Since then, things have only got better.
The 'Makaira' is a 38' Gulf Craft boat powered by twin Yamaha F250 engines. The vessel features a comfortable seating area, cabin, and bathroom with shower. Other amenities onboard include a range of marine and fishing electronics, GoPro cameras to record your catches, and even Wi-Fi.
As far as its fishing equipment goes, the Makaira is rigged with Shimano and Penn International rods and reels, complete with lures, poppers, and teasers. It is decked with outriggers and centerriggers, as well as a single fighting chair for handling larger fish.
The Makaira team specializes in a variety of fishing techniques, offering trolling, popping, jigging, casting, and more. All fishing gear, lures, and fishing licenses will be provided by the Makaira crew, with the equipment for fly fishing also made available upon request.
As long as the regulations will allow, the guests are free to keep the fish they catch, with a complimentary cleaning of the catch by the team.

Capt Hussein sport fishing boat seemed well maintained, stocked up with a paraphernalia of fishing tackles and lures. Started off our family fishing adventure on 30th Apr morning at 7.30 am trolling while making our passage out to the open seas. Unfortunately after an hour or so no luck with trolling. We tried our luck jigging and after 30 mins since there was hardly any bite we decided to move to another location to do popping. 25 mins into popping and just as 2nd mate Afsal in jest asked to me to utter some words in the open to express a yearning to get a catch - a short while after that came a strong pull on the rod which crew Hamdhoon was handling. My son took over the fight and after about 15 mins brought up a decent 8 kg GT. After another 30 mins or so a blue fin trevally came hooked onto the lure . After 3 hrs out at the sea, the third GT of about 5 kgs was caught. The deck mates – Alfsal and especially 23 year old Hamdhoon were hardworking fishermen and dedicated crew members making sure Skipper Faarish moved the Makaira from reef to reef to find fish using popping method. They have a passion in sport fishing and doesn't waste time to get some fishing excitement for anglers on board .It was half a day well spent and glad we came back to the resort with 3 decent catch. Had the Thai chef at Centara Ras Fushi to prepare the fresh fish in 4 different styles for dinner that evening. Thanks to Makaira Charter we had a nice family time out at sea which could have been much better if not for the strong winds and overcast skies that morning.

Although we did not catch any marlin, we have managed to get 3 wahoos in less than 2 hours. The boat is really nice, deck is new, gear is in great condition, and captain is very nice and knowledgeable. I just wish we took food and board and were able to extend our trip for a little longer. Thank you, Captain!

Thank you very much indeed...
Not often do you see the captain working as the deckhand! It has been awhile for me. Hussein is a great angler with years of experience. He got us hooked up twice in a half day charter. I felt bad that we lost both fish due to our own issues. Oh well!! I would highly recommend Makaira Luxury Charters. They do a wonderful job with a great boat and fabulous equipment!
Real fishing trip for ealing value of money, 6 Wahoo in less than 6 hours. The captain and the crew were absolutely great wit service and help they really new how to show you a good time. And the overall experience was warth it, don't try looking for another charter than this one it's the best with the same captain. It's all thanks to Captain Hussain and his crew.

Thanks !!!
We booked a half-day trip with this charter. After hours, we only caught 1 fish total. My boyfriend landed that one, I never even touched a fishing pole the whole time I was on the boat. I know we just had an unlucky day & it's no fault of the charter. It sucked to pay $1100 for 1 fish though. They 2 employees on the charter weren't all that friendly & didn't seem to speak English. We had no clue what was going on most of the time because there was absolutely no communication. The bathroom was incredibly stinky & gross. Many of the other fishing charters that cost the same as Makaira offered lunch on the boat, but they just had apples & oranges. I'm sure this isn't a bad charter, we just didn't have a great experience.
