Join Meals On Reelz Charters and let the experienced crew take you to some of the best fishing spots at Lake Erie. Captain Robert usually starts the season around Oak Harbor and adds Sandusky, Huron, and Marblehead to the game.

The main target on each trip is Walleye but you can also go after Yellow Perch. Anglers of all skill levels are welcome, just let the captain know how experienced you are. He’ll adjust the trip based on your goals, be it breaking your personal record or simply learning the best ways to use the equipment. He’ll show you how to set up dipsy divers, run inline boards, tune a crankbait, set lines, and many other things.

You’ll be fishing on a 21’6" Yar-Craft 219TFX that accommodates up to 3 guests. This fiberglass vessel provides a safe and reliable ride, with enough room for every angler to fish in comfort. The boat features a 400 HP Mercury engine, navigational electronics, a live bait tank, and a cooler.

All trips are 6 hours or your limit, whichever comes first. Captain Robert covers your rods, reels, lures, and live bait. You need to get your fishing license in advance and pack some snacks and drinks for the day. Alcohol is fine so long as it is in a can, no bottles or hard liquor please! If you’re keeping the catch, don’t forget to bring your cooler.

    Depending on the time of year, Walleye trips are typically trolling with inline planer boards. April provides an opportunity to jig fish shallow water. The captain covers your fishing equipment, while you need to bring your license. Departure spot depends on the fish activity.

Growing up in Sandusky Ohio, I was never more than a few blocks away from the Lake. Fishing started at a young age fishing for panfish as so many young anglers do. Perch was what I started out chasing and quickly fell in love with the Lake! I then transitioned to walleye fishing looking for a bit of a challenge. That's when fishing became more of a way of life rather than a hobby. I decided to get my Captains license in 2018 after years of Walleye fishing. I realized that my studies and experience put me in a category that was more than an average fisherman. I love to teach people and that was a large part of my decision to become a Captain!

The walleye are starting to spawn actively. The males are in position, and the female are dropping their eggs fast. As we move through April, jig fishing should be good. The trolling bite will only get better as the bigger females move out of the staging period and move into post spawn status, and they will be hungry! Very hungry, which is great for anyone looking to catch walleye. All pictures are from recent trips. If you're lucky enough to get decent weather, fishing is and will continue to be very good!
