Fish with a living legend and find out why the waters around St. Thomas have such an outstanding reputation! Let Captain Red and 'The Abigail III' show you the premier fishing hot spots.

If you're an avid Billfish chaser, then you've come to the right place. Capt. Red is a proud winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Billfish Foundation and he dedicated his life to catching Marlin across the globe.

The bountiful waters of St. Thomas are the playground of Blue Marlin and White Marlin, which makes them the perfect place to land your next trophy. The best time to go after these prestigious fish is from April to October. You can also hook various Tuna species here, along with Mahi Mahi and Wahoo.

Bear in mind that Billfish are strictly catch and release, and everything else you catch, you'll share with the crew. The captain and his first mate will clean and fillet the fish for your convenience.

'The Abigail III' is a 44' aluminum sport fisher and she'll be your ride for the day. The boat is outfitted with twin 870 HP Caterpillar engines and has plenty of room for up to 6 anglers to fish at the same time. Capt. Red will provide top-of-the-line Penn International tackle, lures, and fishing licenses for everyone.

With a private toilet and an air-conditioned cabin, the vessel is perfectly suited for longer fishing jaunts. You will have a competent first mate by your side, so if you need any help, don't hesitate to ask. For all his hard work, 10–20% tips are much appreciated.

If you need pickup from St. John Island, the captain can arrange it for an additional charge ($50). The only thing you should think about before the trip is packing enough food for your day on the boat. Sunscreen and hats are also a good idea.

Captain Red and 'The Abigail III' welcome you aboard and vouch that they will make your sportfishing adventure truly memorable!

Holiday Family Fishing Trip
Half Day Trip (PM) on December 22, 20255 adults

We had a great fishing trip with Captain Red and Donovan on the afternoon of December 22nd! We sailed North from Sapphire Harbor and began fishing North of the Virgin Islands. We started catching fish after about 90 min. By the time that we returned to port, we had caught 2 Barracudas, 2 Bonitos, and a King Mackerel! That evening, we had delicious fish tacos for dinner! We will definitely fish with Captain Red again the next time that we are in St. Thomas! Thank you Captain Red and Donovan!

Booked a ¾ day trip and had time to get on the fish 32 mi off coast. A shorter day amd we wouldnt have gone that far out. A great experience for me amd my family.

Captain Red Bailey is one of the most renowned captains in St. Thomas and with good reason. Fishing is his lifelong passion and calling, and he spent over 50 years on the water. In that time, he honed his angling skills and participated in numerous tournaments all over the world. Capt. Red has also had famous guests on board, including Jerry Lewis, and that alone speaks volumes of the captain's expertise. Today, he runs fishing trips from the Sapphire Marina and regularly puts people on the best bite of their life.
