Great Escape Charters are based in Orange Beach, Alabama and provide first class fishing trips. Their experienced crew has been fishing the Gulf of Mexico waters for over 20 years and possess exceptional knowledge. They offer exciting offshore fishing trips and love providing all of their guests with an experience of a lifetime.
You will head out on their 38' Bertram sport fishing boat, which comes powered by twin 370 HP Cummins engines to get you to the action in no time. This beautiful vessel includes a flybridge with cover, as well as a full set of navigational equipment.
The spacious deck can accommodate up to six anglers, and the boat is rigged with outriggers, center rigger and live bait tank to ensure you are prepared for a day full of fishing action. For your comfort, the galley is air-conditioned and features a toilet, shower, and a kitchen with refrigerator.
Your adventure with Great Escape Charters in the Gulf of Mexico will begin by throwing out the trolling lures onto the water as you break out of Perdido Pass, to target Kings, Bonita, Wahoo, Spanish Mackerel, and other migratory species. You will then run up to 20 miles offshore, depending on the fish bite, and when you arrive at the fishing grounds your deckhand will have you baited up and ready to fish.
Great Escape Charters will give you the opportunity to fish for many different reef species, and as you return to the dock, the trolling lures will once again be set up to hopefully catch a couple of last bites. When you arrive at the dock, your deckhand will unload and hang your fish for pictures, which the crew will fillet and bag it for your enjoyment!
Please make sure to tip the deckhand the customary 20-25% to award their effort and hard work!

The action was nonstop, and we caught plenty of Spanish mackerel along with several large jack that put up an incredible fight. The captain knew exactly where to find the fish, and the crew worked hard the entire trip to make sure everyone had a great experience. The crew was friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help with baiting hooks, landing fish, and making sure everyone was having fun. Their positive attitude and excellent service made the trip even better. If you’re looking for a fun, successful day on the water with a hardworking crew, I highly recommend this charter. We can’t wait to book another trip!

Will was able to put us right on top of the fish, and John was amazing with my 11 year old son. He went out of his way to show him the ropes, and stayed with him for every catch. It allowed me to just fish, which wasn’t what I expected. I’d highly recommend this charter. We’d love to do it again.

4 Hour Trip – Trolling (AM) on May 18, 2025 • 3 adultsWe caught our limit of Kings and tons of Spanish mackerel on the 4 hour morning trip. Captain Will and deckhang George had the boat ready to go for a prompt departure - no wasting time! They had us on fish almost immediately after leaving port and action was non-stop. They were informative, helpful, and knowledgeable. The boat was comfortable and well-equipped. They cleaned our catch and pointed us in the direction of a few "cook your catch" restaurants which turned out great! We will definitely rebook next time we're in Orange Beach!

4 Hour Trip – Trolling (PM) on October 10, 2024 • 4 adults • 2 childrenWe booked a 4 hour charter with captain Will and his first mate George. They kept us on the fish as we were trolling. Ended up filling a cooler with several Spanish Mackerels and three pretty good sized King Mackerels. The Kings fought but those Spanish Mackerels all but swam to the boat with the exception of a couple of em. All in all, great first trip out with these guys. My family enjoyed it with the exception of my 12 year old daughter. She's just not into fishing for some reason. The boat has a couch that she pretty much stayed on the whole time. It was fine. She put her headphones on and just jammed her tunes while her mom and 10 year old brother enjoyed the trip out on the water. We ran 3 lines out behind the boat. 2 we're essentially the same setup with a 3rd bigger jig running out further behind the boat. It didn't even budge. Fish just didn't like it for some reason. The other 2 jigs lost their color they got hit so much!

Our family has fished in a lot of places in the world but yesterday with Captain Will and First Mate Jake was one of the most fun experiences! This was our first time to Orange Beach and definitely a memorable one. There was never a dull moment and never a point where we weren't catching. We were catching the largest Beeliners I have seen and even pulling up 2 at a time! We caught our limit in about 1 1/2 hours and then went on the hunt for Triggers. Captain Will consistently put us on the fish and our arms are sore today from reeling all afternoon! First Mate Jake was very knowledgeable about the area and local fishing and was quick with the bait and taking off the fish. Would definitely recommend and we're hoping to be back soon!
The trip started out a little rough with an engine overheating before we made it out of the pass. Captain Will made the decision to turn around and see if he could diagnose the issue. He quickly found the issue was a bad water pump. He had one delivered and put on by the time we could go grab breakfast. We were out on the water catching fish in no time! Thank you!!! Captain Will and the crew will do whatever it takes to get you out on the water and making memories!

Great experience! Captain Will and crew were great. Caught Mackerel then took the fish to Doc’s and they cooked them for us. Best fish ever! We look forward to coming back!
