Spend the day with Round Up Fishing and find out what the fishing in Key Largo is all about! Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain John can tell you all about the local fishery.
Species like Mahi Mahi, Amberjack, Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Red Snapper, Bluefin Tuna, Wahoo, Gag Grouper, Mangrove Snapper, Yellowtail Snapper, Vermilion Snapper, Mutton Snapper, and more are in the cards if you cast your line at the right time of year. On these trips, you can expect to troll and bottom fish. Capt. John can also show you kite fishing.
Families making a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. And, you can’t go wrong with snacks so that nobody gets cranky on an empty belly!
You’ll be casting lines from Miss Jeanette, a 43’ Hatteras Sportfisher that can carry up to 6 passengers. It has outriggers, a fighting chair, all the essentials. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Rods, reels, and tackle are covered by the charter, along with lures. Live bait is included, but you should ask the captain whether you’ll be catching it yourself.
A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. Mates often work for tips and it’s customary to offer them a 10–20% tip.
The charter boat covers your fishing license, so all you have to do is look forward to your trip! Be mindful that some species may have special rules or limited seasons. Your captain will help you follow regulations while you fish.
It’s recommended to bring sunglasses, bottled water, and sunblock (non-spray). Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
