Captain Drey Thomason is the Owner of Thomason Tradition Sport Fishing. I am a licensed USCG captain. I run light tackle charters for trophy fish in Maryland and Virginia. My boat is a brand new 2022 Pair Marine 24Mv powered by a Suzuki 300. I have spent most of my life fishing the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. Light tackle has always been my favorite form of fishing. I fish year-round with light tackle gear and artificial lures. The Chesapeake Bay is the third-largest estuary in the world. It offers some of the best light tackle fishing there is. With many species throughout the four seasons. During the spring/summer months, we offer some of the best light tackle Striped Bass shallow water expeditions. The Chesapeake Bay also has one of the best Red Drum fisheries in the nation. Red Drum is pound-for-pound the strongest fighting fish in our water and possibly the best sport fish we have in the chesapeake bay. My full custom tower allows us to sight fish big red drum, cobia, and even big striped bass. Capt. Drey puts a lot of time and hard work into staying on the patterns of both large Drum and large Striped Bass as they migrate in and out. Whether you’re looking for a fish of a lifetime or a great day on the bay catching fish with friends and family, put your trust in Capt. Afternoon Rockfish
Had an amazing outing with Captain Drey. We are from the mid-west, this was our first experience with this type of fishing. Captain Drey was outstanding, he did a great job engaging with my two boys (13 & 9) as well as with the wife (who never fishes). Everyone had a blast from the very start of the trip. The boy and wife loved catching the spot at the start to use for bait later. Once we started fishing for rockfish, Captain Drey explained why we he choose that specific location, showed the boys and wife what to do and what to expect and got them going. Wasn’t very long at all before the first of many rockfish was in the boat. We needed up fishing 4 locations, caught fish at every location using a couple different techniques. Everyone caught multiple fish on the day, to include the 9 yo catching the biggest at 26”. I looked at many different options before booking and Captain Drey proved to the perfect choice. Made the highlight of the vacation.

Drey is an extremely knowledgeable professional who put us on the fish and kept us on almost all day. There are no guarantees when you book a charter but this may be as close as it gets. We limited out with plenty of legal size fish (only kept 2) as well as fun with the shorties. Absolutely recommend 100%

Half Day Trip with Capt Drey Thomason 25 Aug
We had such a fantastic time last month, we decided to go again, and this time brought our neighbor and his son. After I told my son, he asked if Capt Thomason was going too. He was so excited he was. The kids were catching fish right away and my son finally caught the Spanish Mackerel he was looking for. Drey is very patient with the kids and I felt I wasn’t having to watch the kids all the time. So I could enjoy fishing too! Drey is relentless in finding where the fish are biting and taking you there!

We had an amazing time fishing with Capt. Drey. He was the ultimate in professionalism. Found us great spots to fish from, was very knowledgeable about the best places to fish, and more importantly was very patient with our youngest son who is on the Spectrum.
