Dive into the diverse world of fishing on offer in Panama with Mario Tours. Whether you want to fish the inshore lakes and rivers, hit the productive reefs, or take a trip to the deep seas, Captain Mario Sanchez has you covered.
Born into a family of anglers, he grew up fishing the rich waters of the Caribbean, perfecting his skills over the course of more than 30 years. He still loves getting out on the water every day, and likes nothing more than sharing the experience with others. He promises a productive trip to sea, with plenty of rewards, as he shows you his local fisheries.
Come aboard the 28’ Panga center console and experience true Panamanian hospitality. You’ll be made to feel like home, with Capt. Mario and his first mate offering up a platter of tacos and a range of drinks, including sodas and beer. They’ll even pick you up at the airport or any hotel in Boca del Toro, so there’s no excuse not to come aboard!
When it comes to the fishing, you’ll have everything you need for a productive day out, including all the latest rods and reels, and plenty of artificial lures. Troll the open waters or bottom fish the reefs and shallows, and there’s no end to what you can catch. Along the rivers and lakes, you’ll have your pick of Tarpon, Black Snappers, Junefish, and Snook, among more. Hit the reefs, and Kingfish, Spanish Mackerel, Barracuda, Groupers, and Snappers will look to take your bait.
But the real gem of fishing in Panama comes offshore. Head up to 30 miles out to the depths of the Caribbean and get your hands on Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Tuna, Wahoo, and many more “big game fish.” Just get in touch with your captain before you go, and he’ll take you on a trip to fulfill your fishing dreams!
You can even mix up your fishing excursion with a spot of relaxation, as you head to the beaches to cool off. The whole family is welcome aboard and Mario Tours strives to make sure that everyone enjoys. Come aboard and make your holiday to Panama one to remember!

Half Day Trip (PM)
My fishing background: 72 yrs old, fished all over the world in fresh and salt water, have hired many charters, marine biology undergrad degree, owned and captained 10 boats during my life to 43' in length primarily used for fishing. Captain was like a last minute fill in. Was told by charter coordinator that "captain was an excellent, experienced fisher and we would have a great fishing trip" before we left the dock. First hint that was not going to happen was boat was not a fishing boat, was a water taxi full of seats designed to carry a dozen passengers commonly used for moving people around Bocas del Toreo islands of Panama i.e no rod holders. .Captain only brought 2 borrowed rods set up for trolling when it was not the right time of day for trolling as we left the dock at 11:30am. Was told seas to rough out in the Carribean where the mahi mahi, tuna, wahoo were so had to troll within the islands for baracuda/king fish - not the type of fish I wanted to pursue at all. Under those sea conditions, we should have gone bottom fishing on the reefs between the islands, but when I asked to do that was told by captain he did not have any other fishing equipment besides the two trolling lures on the rods. We trolled between the islands for 3 hours and did not have any strikes, only lures full of turtle grass every time we checked the bait. I cut the charter off then with another hour to go due to it being useless. Total wast of time and $300 + $25 in tips to the captain and 10 year old 1st mate. This is not an honest charter service!.
