Explore the other side of fishing in Puerto Rico and head into the backcountry with 'Caribbean Outfitters'! You'll explore the Laguna Torrecilla with Captain Omar Orraca, a world-record-holding fly fisherman with 3 decades of experience.
Board a 24' Pathfinder bay boat that can accommodate 6 anglers, with 3–4 able to fish at the same time. She's fully rigged with the latest electronics and navigational equipment, as well as a Bluetooth music system. She's the biggest inshore fishing boat in Carolina, ensuring you'll be comfortable all trip long.
It's all about light tackle on Capt. Omar's fly fishing and spinning trips. You'll go after Tarpon, Snook, and Jacks in the endless red mangroves of the Laguna Torrecilla. This is the Mecca for backwater fishing in Puerto Rico and 60–90 lb Tarpon is the norm. There's no better place to set out in if it's that trophy catch you're after.
All of the gear you need for a productive day of light tackle fishing is waiting for you on board. For spinning, you use Shimano Stella spinning reels and Terramar rods. For fly fishing, it'll be Tibor reels with Sage Xi-2 rods to match.
Your beverages will stay chilled in the cooler and Capt. Omar provides bottled water, soft drinks, and local 'Medalla' beers. Experienced anglers also have the option to rent one of his 3 kayaks for $75 a pop. Any catch you choose to keep is cleaned and filleted, just remember that Tarpon and Jack Crevalle are strictly catch and release.

A few tarpon on flies early and several more on bait later. My son and I had a great day on the water with Omar on the 6 hour trip. Most of the fish were in the 20 lb. range. Catching one on a fly rod will really work your forearm. Boated a 70 lb. later in the day and lost a 90 lb. Omar was ready to go at start, no time wasted watching him set up the boat or catching bait. I'm a former Colorado river guide and my son's a fly-fishing/tying fanactic and works for one of the best outfitters in Colorado. Been all over north/central/south america to catch fish, hooked up with a lot of guides (fishing pun only intended, ha), and Omar ranks with the best. Humble, hard-working, and attentive. If I had the money, I'd fish with him everyday.
Our hour fishing trip with Captain Omar didn't disappoint! It was easy to book, communicate with and easy to find. He brought us to a beautiful set of lagoons where we only saw three other small fishing boats in the six ours of our charter. Captain Omar was knowledgeable of the area and put us on the action! We've done many charters and it was nice to see a Captain that WASN'T watching his watch to end the trip, but to see if we needed to try a different part of the lagoon. Captain Omar knew which spots and depth to put us on and he didn't disappoint!

Thank you bunches for the opportunity and fishing with you, your daughter and guest was a true blast, looking forward to fish with you again!!
Great time fishing for tarpon with Capt. Omar yesterday. I really wanted to try and caught a tarpon on a fly and Omar set me up on the fish, and I managed to land two! Of course I later lost the biggest fish on the day when it did one of those spectacular jumps that they are famous for. I highly recommend Capt. Omar regardless of your level of experience, the first thing he asked me was what I wanted to do, then gave me his suggestions. He worked very hard to keep us on the fish and if you are thinking about fishing tarpon in Puerto Rico - Omar is your man!👍

Thank you for your feedback on your trip. It was great fun to fish with you as well. You are always welcome to fish with me aging, it was a bag of fun!!

Omar was very friendly, knowledgeable and excellent with my teenage boys. We took two trips with him this week and caught tarpon on both trips. I highly recommend Omar!!

Thank you Mr. Bennett, it was great to fish with you and the boys. Great job raising them like true gentleman. God bless you and your family!
I've fished a lot of places and with many guides and Omar was the best I've come across. From equipment to friendliness and conversation to knowledge of the water he was great. Had 4 bites with two making to you the boat. Great experience I'll be back again and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great tarpon trip

Thank you for the feedback on your trip, it was great fun spending time with you and your wife and a true honor to introduce you to tarpon fishing, looking forward to fish with you again soon!! See You Next Tide Capt. Omar Orraca

I started guiding when I discovered my passion for marine life and the ocean was equal to my passion for helping people hook their dream catch. Having the opportunity to provide joy and create memories that will last forever is a blessing. I am extremely passionate about Billfish and a lot of people say I have a special talent for Tarpon. I've been featured in over 15 fishing TV shows on broadcasts like ESPN, NBC Sport, Fox Sport, and World Fishing Network, as well as in fishing magazines like Sport Fishing Mag, Florida Sportsman, and Fly Fishing in Salt Water.
