His trips are suited for everyone, regardless of your skill level. Capt. Gordy especially welcomes families with kids, because it's never too early to introduce them to this magical world of fishing!
You'll be fishing aboard his 2020 28' Allied Liberator boat. This vessel accommodates up to 6 guests and everybody can fish at the same time. Powered by twin 200 HP Yamaha engines, as well as a 20 HP Yamaha kicker, it will take you quickly and safely to your fishing spot. The vessel is also fitted Raymarine electronics and auto-pilot systems which will help you find and stay on fish.
Capt. Gordy offers different trips for different fish species. Salmon fishing and crabbing in the ocean and Columbia River. Tuna, Halibut, and bottom fish in the Pacific Ocean out of Hammond, OR. It all depends on your fishing spot and time of year. Capt. Gordy specializes in bottom fishing and trolling, so these will be your main fishing techniques.
He'll cover your fishing equipment, lures, bait, and even clean your catch for free. You can bring your food and drinks. Don't forget to purchase your fishing license (around $20 per person) for the day and the capt. also recommends bringing rain gear. There's no minimum age policy for kids – you, as a parent, know best if your kid will like the trip or not.

Caught our limit and then sone by 10am! Captain Gordy and his deckhand, Bell, are awesome! Captain Gordy made sure we stayed on the fish and did not stay in one place when the bite slowed down. We definitely recommend this guide and plan to come out again. It was a great day of fishing and catching!
My three nephews and I had a great time on board with Captain Gordy. It was their first opportunity saltwater fishing, and they had some apprehension at the start. Once we started fishing, we quickly limited in less than an hour! We were close to limiting on crab also. It may have even been an unrealistic benchmark, for their first time. Thanks again for the great time! (all the talk on the way home, was about when we go next)
Gordy runs a top notch guide service, and we had an incredible time! My only goal for the trip was for my 14 year old son to catch his first salmon… Mission accomplished! It would have been great to catch more fish, but Gordy still did an excellent job putting us in all the right spots. He really went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a good time, which was appreciated. I would definitely use Black Dogg again, and I highly recommend them!
Captain was professional and knowledgeable. He was great with my kiddos. I would definetly recommend reaching out to him to confirm everything you booked as fishing booker itself seemed to have some glitches with the type of trip booked.
